What the hell ? Pet Battle is one of the most interesting thing that happened in the game.
Why should I wait for Cataclysm classic when we can have it right now ??
Imagine the race for World First 200 pet battle to lvl 25, HYPE.

Because pokemon battles came in Pandiarrhoea, not Casterclysm.

I’m surprised about the backlash to be honest, pet battle is one of those things that you either care about it, or you don’t, it doesn’t affect anyone in any way. I wouldn’t waste a second of my playtime doing that nonsense, but i wouldn’t mind its existence either, why would i care
kinda wrong. Giving too many options to do SOLO in massively RPG game is bad decisions. Everyone then could end catching pokemons all around the word to pokedex in solo mode instead trying to socialize or dueling outside SW. Or randomly wpvping for fun in Southshore(people nowdays probably dont know what that means). Making also much less room for everything else.
I disagree with “less room for everyone else”, the very goal of RPG game is to have as many active players as possible ( obviously without making environment laggy )
You ever played later expansions right? 
Having high population afking in major cities with instant queing tools and pet battles, with own garisons and whatever stuff around actually killed this game. Making bubble spaces for each type of player that never needed to interact anymore with anyone just to play his own part of game.
I did, from your perspective, sure, maybe that’s what killed the game for you personally, what killed the game for me personally was imbalaned pvp classes and systems, boosting ( both pve and pvp ), titanforging and few other minor things that just piled up on top of each other untill the game became unplayble for me. Draenor was bad because game version was bad, not because Garrison itself was bad.
People are afk’ing in major cities anyway, dueling outside major cities is non-existent on TBC, it’s the same game (with minor changes) that we played in 06-07, but players have changed, people’s approach to game has changed, I really don’t think something like pet battles can make it worse, but then again, i really don’t care and i do suspect that it won’t affect majority of playerbase
Well then go look on private servers if there is same mentality as on Blizz ones.
It wont affect majority of playerbase as majority only raid log or arena log. That also reason why you dont need pet battles here. So either way this game is kind of dead compare to 2007(where TBC was also alreayd showing dying in similar way anyways).
But still cant see point to put pet battles into TBC when you can level boost in retail and catch much more pets there with all the mechanisms and players already able to duel you in it.
