Please announce emergency maintenance somewhere

Right now the EU servers were restarted, I’m guessing to implement a fix for the issues mentioned in this topic.

While I appreciate that you guys are on the ball and fixing technical issues, it’d be great if an emergency restart could be announced somewhere, for example here using a blue post. That way us players don’t have to guess what’s going on, why, or how long it’ll take.

In the same linked thread.

A 15 minute ingame warning for a server shutdown was given.

Mentioning that somewhere in a thread is not the same as properly announcing it by a seperate blue post created by a Blizz employee, or for example announcing it on X

Did you not have a warning in game 15 minutes before the server restart, Morkatog?

I did, but I recently returned from a long break from the game so I wasn’t sure if this was regular maintenance or something else and couldn’t find information at first (not until digging through another post created by another player, after the servers were already down). I also had people around me in game who were also clueless as to what was going on.

We had no idea why it was happening or how long the downtime would last for.

Checking our account, it looks like we did post a tweet about 20 minutes before your message (which is the one Saneko posted).

Thanks Yryadorne. I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to X… how does one find that? I checked and didn’t see a post about it there. I’m apparently not allowed to post links, but you can see the page I mentioned by clicking the name of the account in the link you posted.

On a sidenote: your direct link indeed works and shows the correct info, but I have no idea how to find that link on the page I’m trying to point to in my explanation above.

Usually, one would have an account, and follow us to get updates in real time (make sure you’re in the Following tab, and not the For You tab). If you don’t have an account, you should be able to visit out account’s page (same link) and scroll down the different tweets.

Alternatively, we do have a Discord Server, if you’re more familiar with it.

Twitter/X is pretty bad nowadays when it comes to info like that, least if you are not registered there. Discord also requires registration. Preferrably Blizzard should have some single page for important information like that, even better if it comes with old style RSS feed as many applications support it. Forum threads - especially if the announcement is buried in it are not very easy to find.
