Please don't make Tome of Cold Weather Flight available in P1

Tome of Cold Weather Flight, which allows level 80 characters to purchase Nothrend flying for alts from level 68+ (without it it’s trainable from level 77 up), was released with Tier 9. In my opinion it should not be released in the first phase of content at least.
What does everyone think?

What a gain with this nerf ? Nothing.
So no.

I believe it’s better for everyone to be on equal playing field early on in the expansion, when there’s the highest number of people levelling. People who start a bit late will be at a disadvantage when competing for mobs/gathering nodes and might get alienated. Questing together with someone on a slowass land mount will be undesirable.

That’s why fresh serv exists

Not sure what you’re implying. Fresh servers will be affected by this as well

Yes but when ? When we will be at the middle life of the expansion ?
By the way, it’s a PvE/PvP progress, not a Wotlk patch per patch as TBC and Classic wasn’t.

It’s Wotlk Classic, not Wotlk+ or Remastered, there is enough bad change to already ruin our experience.

You should re-read my first post. The tome being available from the beginning IS a change. It was originally patched in with Trial of The Crusader.

Everything is patched as 3.3.5 version, only this fkin RDF isn’t in the game.
Double spec is here but originaly added in Ulduar.

Just a example

From any changes, non-changes, making the game more alt friendly extending it replayability is a good change, no-change

I am pro cold weather flying tome being from the start.

This is a good point, though I would argue that dual spec doesn’t really offer much in terms of competitive advantage in the open world and I don’t see how it could negatively impact the social aspect of the game.
Also, I do not necessarily want the tome to be pushed back till T9, just for the time when the overwhelming majority of players will mostly be levelling, so P2 or even late P1 would suffice

TBCC was like 2.4.3 as well, that didn’t stop them from removing stuff like the Zephyr teleport till the appropriate phase.

One of the worst thing about early TBC was how alt-unfriendly it was. And it also contributed to the severe long-term population problems.

Anything that helps with alt-making is a welcomed change. 100% positive. Arguments about original releases from the past doesn’t work anymore. As was said above, Dual talents will be available since start whereas it shouldn’t, I’ll add Fishing and Cooking dailies in TBC. Those were available since start whereas they should have not been available. All this “release it when it was released originally” doesn’t work anymore due to inconsitencies.

None of the alt-unfriendly elements of TBC are present in WotLK though.
I think there’s good reason for not making the tome available right away. Somebody who brings an alt to Northrend on an epic flying mount is not gonna want to group up with someone who only has a land mount.
The game doesn’t need to have all of its alt friendly features right off the bat at a time when the game will be more alive than ever anyway, especially if it’d come at a cost of the already dying social aspects.

Please don’t touch the tome. I’ve had enough ‘joy’ leveling alts with only land mounts in TBCC. Also, why would you group with anyone at all? If it’s your friend, flying wouldn’t matter. If not, it’s only for elite quests, so someone with epic flying will wait regardless. Grouping for regular quests is pointless already. It’s not an issue and won’t be.

I don’t know, maybe because I’m playing an MMORPG

According to what I read yesterday, it isn’t available at launch and will be added at a later phase. I’ve not logged in to PTR to check though.

Yeah, I’m playing an MMORPG when all the content is 80 lvl so I’ll group with a random guy to farm 20 things that don’t drop instead of 10 things, to share kill exp, to wait for that guy, to stay in the zone longer then I should… that’s just pointless.

Like really, I don’t mind being social. I’m actually talking a lot in dungs or raids. But I never accept party invites on leveling except for ‘bring me the head’ quests or elite ones. Because there’s no reason for it.

I’m for Tome later on … with all the rest. #NoChanges!

It’s cute to see how the usual suspects are here to defend the inclusion of anything that brings convenience. I get that levelling alts is a slow process, and it’s not a particularly social environment on many servers seeing as there are few players there to level with you (whether this remains true on a mega-server I don’t know).

I agree with reasons the OP brings up but I take a neutral stance in this topic. I don’t often level alts, I prefer to play one or two characters. From a design perspective I view flying as something that was inherently bad but the damage has already been done, and in this particular scenario I could choose to inconvenience myself for the sake of enhancing the gaming experience (i.e. I can choose to not purchase a flying mount until max level).

I’d prefer to see the Cold Weather Flight at a later phase but I don’t much care one way or the other.

I agree, remove the book completely! Imagine all the social interaction you can have with your friends while riding from point a to point b on your ground mount! Imagine all the World is the main character you can experience from the ground! You can even paln a questing session with your friends form guild or friendlist. You may even find new friends while slogging from quest to quest on your horse and collecting 20 bear anuses instead of 10. It’s how an MMORPG is supposed to be played!

The official news from 4 days ago about flying mentions the tome, so I think it will be there

Not sure who you’re agreeing with there but ok
