So, I’ve seen that the current PTR proposals have Icy Veins summon a water elemental. To this I say a resounding no thank you.
I get that water elemental needs to be more appealing, as apparently no one is taking it currently, but it needs to still be an optional thing to take, rather than tied to a basically mandatory talent.
I love playing Frost Mage, but I loathe pets and playing pet classes. Not sure if I am alone in this feeling, but I just needed to say this somewhere.
If you’ve not been keeping up with the PTR, Water Elemental is no longer a standalone talent, it’s now baked into Icy Veins as a temporary pet and there’s literally no build where you don’t take Icy Veins,
The removal of the elemental is so bs. Just because some PvP-e complained about it, and it’s not the popular choice for mage players, who just copy-paste Wowhead and Ixy-veins builds, I really don’t understan why could it not remain es an option. Since we get back the water elemental, many expc ago, I always played with it, even if the elite said that is not the best min-max option.
It could been solved easily, like disablin it when in PVP or M+ content. Everybody would benn happy.
And this is why I keep saying that we keep gettin less and less with “upgrades” in the game, versus the public “WoW was never this better” propaganda.
It always seemed so strange to have it competing with a 25% buff to our 3 main spells, considering most choice nodes are usually associated with one another, you either got a big buff to most of your damage or a small passive damage source with some utility, which made little sense.
They could’ve moved it to somewhere else in the tree to be fair or even made it baseline with the option to remove/change it in the tree. Or even something crazy like putting it in the Mage tree and have it be a triple choice node between Arcane Familiar/Water Elemental/some Fire pet.
Though I’ve got no complaints about it operates now as I fell out of love with the elemental when they removed the damage increase it got from our mastery.
