Please don't screw up Transmog for Roleplayers

:astonished: Oh, i was actually also thinking about this “per slot” recently, since one of my RP characters have this feature to transform into some kind of lava elemental or infernal by using this “fiery skull” helmet transmog from the Trading Post.

I use ~4 items for changing the looks and i think there is will be workaround with “Per slot” system as well.
By using feature which allows you to tie specific mog to specific spec i think i will be able to do workaround with this new system.

It is not perfect and you’ll need to do more preparations than before, but may be my technique will be helpful.

Using specs still won’t solve the problem of making whatever change we want on the fly without a hitch.

Some classes have restrictions based on spec, a BDK can’t wield 2x 1handers without switching to Frost, not to mention that this is extremely limited with only 3 specs per character on average. If I suddenly want to put on some boots I have dangling off my belt I should be able without having to mount up or summon a toy

And making an endless amount of outfits for every case you might face in the future is going to make the cost we now spend on transmogging skyrocket (especially extra worried now that I’ve seen the Systems Download Developer Panel video as they want us to pay to unlock outfit slots too) as it won’t be transmog the item once and throw it in bag for when it’s needed.

The current system is literally hassle free for us, there is no reason why we can’t keep an option to transmog an item individually.

It would’ve been so easy to just delete the price of transmog.

As a roleplayer, I do see the intent behind the new design and its benefits for the average player, but they really do have to make both systems possible, and make it so that you can apply an appearance to an item that overwrites the current tmog set because “just make a set with and without the hood” might seem easy to say at first glance, but then you think about it for two more seconds and realise it can be way more than just a hood. And thinking about all the possible combinations of items I might have to pre-tmog and all the multiples of sets I might have to make for some characters. Not to mention picking up a new item on the fly or even during RP and needing to put it on on the spot.

We really need to at least have a menu of check boxes to disable certain mog slots so our other items and per-item saved mogs (which hopefully will continue to be a feature) can be used during RP.

In the same vein, some have seasonal transmogs or old, now unobtainable transmogs still in their bags for use with certain character looks. Will these be safe and remain on their respective items for further use or will they get wiped? I really hope not. That’s a big one for me personally and probably for some other people aswell.

OTHER THAN THAT, I can see this new system as an improvement as long as it DOES NOT invalidate the current functionality. All I’m asking is for that the per-item transmogs and using non-tmogged pieces for appearances are still functional features and I’m good.

And finally, something I and other RPers wish they would add:
Can we please be able to transmog any item into their respective armour class appearances regardless of character class? So say if I could save a leather tmog to a leather item, or a cloth tmog to a cloth item, even if I am a hunter or warrior? That way a hunter still needs to wear all mail in gameplay, but for RP they could mix more appearances to fit their character. Carrying around cloth items on your paladin for RP purpouses has been common practice in the RP community for years now for things like dresses, suits, etc. or leather items on hunters to give a rugged look for example.

what i miss?

Probably this:

Exactly all of this!

This is stuff people have been asking for for years:

  • Ability to transmog other amour types
  • Lower transmog costs
  • Hue shifting system

I’ve never seen anyone ask for per-slot transmog ever.

If my memory doesn’t fail me, when Transmog released back in Cataclysm, we were able to transmog matching armour types if we were wearing them (cloth on cloth, leather on leather, mail on mail, while being a plate class for example), to this day I still don’t understand why this was nerfed.

Looks like Transmog 2.0 could fix many of the issues you have.

Let’s see the reaction when Blizzard starts to change something that matters to him

well only thing i wish for is

Make so people can transmog the weapon their class can wear like shadow/warlock/evoker/mage can transmog a staff even if you have a 1h and fury can transmog 1handers if you got 2handers.

would make the class fantasy more fun. They could make the game bit better. adding in features of old with new flavours.

Playing a Fury Warrior, I’d absolutely love if we were allowed to mog 1-handers on 2-handers.
