Please Improve Skyriding

I like Skyriding, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not always the best option to move around. I would say, i use steady flight about 60-70% of the time. But there are other reasons then just it’s speed and precision movement.

I have issues with the spell bar changing generally because i can’t dismount instantly by casting spells. Sure this can be adjusted but i wanna ask. Why we can use Space to cast Skyward Ascent, but not W or S to Surge Forward and Aeriel Halt?

I even made a bunch of macros just so i can casts spells directly when i have a target, but that gets screwed up due to auto soft targeting, then i have to write another macro to disable and enable auto soft targeting.

Now, i finish a quest, then i have to wait 5 second to switch back to skyriding, then i have to disable auto soft targeting, just to have a decent flight.

I am sure there are other stuff people wants to see but for me;
Please just make W and S useful like space bar, and let us either assign flight styles to mount or make the change instant.

You do have a point. WASD are completely disabled and useless during skyriding and trying to bind them now in something like dominos removes their default binding for movement.

I wouldn’t consider this a huge issue since I never swap to steady flying and I just have some spells on the skyriding action bar so I can dismount instantly (or use an ability with a hotkey from another action bar).

My guess is if blizzard touched the code behind this, it would bring back the bug where your controls lock up after dismounting, or just blow up the whole server.

Dragonriding and stable flying should be merged. I have been talking about this since years ago.

This means you’d be unable to press W before you land, press a split second too early and you will surge forward. Sounds like a very bad idea to use like this.

I solved the dismounting issue by having my “spammy instant/charge” spell bound to my mouse. On evoker I dismount by either pressing the ice claw thing, or using the raid buff to decrease movement speed spell cd. On DH I bound it to through glaive on my mount, and on warrior my whirlwind button etc.

Would probably end my WoW journey instantly. Dragon riding is just not usable for me. When forced to use it during leveling I can just about manage to use it for short journeys.

Last time I cancelled my sub was in WoD when they tried to remove proper flying.

And tbf they’ve already kind of merged them by making proper flying 420% it’s the best of both worlds, faster flying and ease of navigation.

After the merging:

  • The mount will flying 420% and hoover like static flying without pressing any buttons or using vigor

  • The mount can use dragonriding functions if you press the ability button (surge, ascend, etc.) using vigor

You don’t have to use dragonriding functions if you don’t like them, without pressing any button, it just works like normal flying 420%.

My call/dismiss mount button is on the side of my mouse so I just click as I approach the ground and fall 3 feet
