Please introduce a new currency more valuable than gold

Gold is currently as good as worthless. People gold cap daily by selling services such as M+ 15 keys. Even though I doubt Blizzard would ever fight this strategy, at least make the currency worth something. Like copper is to silver, and silver is to gold. I feel we need a new currency. Call it platinum. Perhaps make another currency and call it diamond or ruby.

In theory:
1 million gold = 10.000 Platinum
10.000 Platinum = 100 diamond or ruby

This makes having gold at least feel somewhat valuable. Just like Legion damage was just absurd, the same is happening to gold. The fix is so simple, so why not take it to Shadowlands? I personally can’t find any flaws with this argument. If you can, please let me know.

Not everyone is rich in the game, nothing changes if you convert current currency into a new currency. All you do is increase the capacity for rich players to get even richer.

Same goes with hitting millions in Legion, yet it was obviously a good idea to reduce the output.

When they raise the cap, either by simply raising it or in your case making a new currency all you do is make the rich richer.

I have never hit gold cap under any system. I never will hit gold cap. All those people that do hit gold cap will keep hitting them. All you do is make those who are good at making gold richer by giving them more ability to hold larger quantities.

So these kinds of measures do nothing.

OP fails at logic…

Gold is far from worthless.

And then down the line when Platinum feels unrewarding we add a new currency called Titanium. And then when Titanium is old we add Tungsten. Eventually 10k Tungsten will become 100 Adamantium

I’m very happy to take any donations of people’s ‘worthless’ gold :sauropod:

Then why don’t they just decrease the gold cap to:

214748g 36s 47c

I think this figure would make the economy drastically more fair.

Wouldn’t it be better to just hack a few zeros off the end of everyone’s gold count when the next expansion hits and reduce the amount of gold given by quests?
Increasing the value of each gold piece to combat inflation.

For example, reducing it by a factor of 10, means that everyone who has 1.000.000 gold will have 100.000 gold when Shadowlands hits.

Something like that.

This would not change anything.

Blizzard has done the right thing with BfA, which is restrict the raw gold available to players. But it will take more than one expansion to fix the damage that WoD and Legion made.

And short term the poor took the most burden from lower raw gold. But in long term it will benefit the poor the most.

In practice in Legion the whales were raking in several 100k raw gold per day while the small fish made a few 1000 gold at most per day. BfA fixed this.

Keep in mind that an AH player making millions on AH per day does not count. That player actualy helps economy and helps keep inflation low as AH takes a cut. So actualy that player who earned millions per day on AH, made gold disappear from economy. Boosting also does not generate raw gold.

Only raw gold causes inflation. Raw gold is vendor trash, quest rewards, mission table… Not really a lot of it available.

Yeah absolutely. Criticizing without any constructive measurements validates your point!!

Well your point changes nothing, it just moves decimal places. So yay, such an amazing idea /s

I have 150k gold  what is that in your platinums :stuck_out_tongue:

Damage is done, inflation will always make gold feel worthless to some characters/players

I think they should just introduce housing like FF14 , in FF14 there is super limited really expensive property per server. That costs i mean a ton. The only way to obtain one is if they owner sells it. Give something like that in game , rather a new currency. If they want to flash their riches , let them spend it on a massive mansion of manor or palace.

That’s just for the property , with housing you introduce new crafts to decorate your property. So having the biggest best , flashiest place on your server will be one hell of a gold sink and a huge bragging rights.

Traditionally, it’s 100gp = 1 platinum piece, and 100 platinum = 1 astral diamond. But making the values slightly smaller wouldn’t change anything. People would still gold cap regularly. I’m sorry… astral diamond cap.

Oh please, raising the gold cap makes no one richer. Don’t pretend like you don’t know that. I’m sure you’re smart enough to know that people stack gold on multiple characters.

Rhodium! :smiling_imp:

Anyone who feels like gold is worthless, can I have your gold?
