Best part about this thread has been seeing some of the most hard-boiled tough guy hordes putting up so much effort to convince people that hordes are not ugly but pretty.

I think you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing, about literally nothing. This was so simple, and if you scroll up i said i didn’t want to get into lore details because it’s derailing the original point.
We are ONLY talking about the RACE, not the classes, not their place in society, not their status, not who their mothers and fathers are, not who split and when, just the RACE that the society of the Highborne consisted of, those were NIGHT ELVES. Again, the RACE of the Highborne was Night Elf. Sure, in that society you had lowbornes etc etc but RACE wise, APPEARANCE wise, they are 1:1. Point blank period. Whatever happened before, inbetween, after, in the future doesn’t matter and adds nothing to the point.
The Alliance had that RACE since launch, so again, they are not missing out on anything with the addition of Nightborne to the Horde. And sure after cataclysm with the addition of mage class and now the eye glow, you can roleplay as a proper one of that society and not just the Night Elves that split and demolished that society hierarchy after the War of the ancients.
Except the highborne didn’t rejoin night elf society until 2010. When playable night elf mages became a thing.
So you could play a Highborne…from 2010.
And you didn’t want to get into lore details because you know the lore isn’t in your favour.

I believe horde has potentially great variation in some races, which is what should be the case.
Best example is female goblins. Check them out in the wowhead SL dressing room. You can make them look like absolute babes in terms of their facial features, complextion and such (yes, they’re green and short but whatever) or you can go the whole huge crooked nose, a chin you could stop a door with and more crows feet than a bird sanctuary route. Huge variation in their looks. Which is good, rather than “every member of this race is yuck/stunning”. See below for some mock ups I’ve made for my goblin chars come Shadowlands. Maybe it’s just me, but I think my Priestess (bottom left) looks pretty cute.
I mean from early on this has been so. Even in vanilla, most female trolls pick “that face”, most female undead look like whatsherface from corpse bride rather than their more hagged options. Lets not pretend otherwise. Belf simply gave a race that “can’t” be ugly, but people were already working arounding it before their arrival.
And as said, yeah the males are no supermodel, but despite their proportions female goblins have always been able to look quite attractive In terms of their facial appearence. Even more so now you can give them cleaner faces without piercings everywhere.

We Zandalari are not only looking good in everything, we tower over everyone and we have quite diverse customization options.
You can look young and you can look old, you can be black and you can be green.
It’s hard to find identical looking Zandalari.
