So what I mean is that, sometimes the demons, ofcourse not your wrathguard/felguard/succubus/voidwalker/Imp/felhunter, but your wild imps, Vilefiend, nether portal demons etc, just focus the wrong targets, and if you want to switch, you're screwed, because your demons don't seem to attack the target you do, atleast not from as much as I have tested it, so either make them automatically switch, or give us a spell to command our demons to attack our current target.
On a side note remove the soul shard cost of Nether Portal.. that's just dumb.
Plus that Vilefiend spends 1 second roaring, which makes you miss out on a second of extra damage from the thing.
Summoner spec hahahahha enjoy

it does not because it is obviously created with that in mind and the damage is made with that in mind... it's just the way the thing works and it looks kinda cool :)

what logic does it make that your summon demon spell costs 1 souls hard, but a spell that summons a very huge amount of demons would cost 0??? having it at 0 would be dumb not the other way around

Because this is not about class fantasy, this is about performance, building up the soul shards takes a lot of the duration of the portal away already, which severly limits the usefullness of it, it's obvious really.

it really doesn't if one has above negative IQ and sees when it's about to come off CD they'd just build up to 5 and keep fluctuating but not going to 0 so that all one potentially needs is two shadow bolts which is like 2 seconds to get to 4/5 shards and cast it
warlock is a caster class btw if you didn't know :) you CAST things get it? cast+ing
if you'd like instant casts and no cost spells go try a fury warrior or something

It costs 3 soul shards. You have 5 in total.
If you're not casting Hand of gul'dan at 3 soul shards you're wasting potential, so you have to spend average 1.5 sec to cast a shadow bolt, and then you use hand, which means you are back at 0 shards again, unless you want to build up full shards, which will take additional seconds, instead of just casting the thing, a full hand of guldan, shadow bolt, hand of guldan, which is a better and much smoother than having to akwardly build up more soul shards in the tiny 20 seconds the portal is up.

you literally aren't wasting potential with casting a 2 shard HoG rather than a 3 second HoG because the 1 SB cast it takes to get to 3 compensates for that if you use portal what matters the most is that you use as many shards in short succession as possible not getting 50 shard HoG casts
that 3rd shard used on the HoG that you oh so desperately want to get to is gonna be used anyways in the next few seconds when you start getting demons out of nether portal
it's not rocket science
@Évelína I guess you are new around here. Accelero is the troll of Warlock forums. Don't tire your fingers.

I'm not a troll, just vastly more intelligent than 99% of the people on the forums : - )

Oh I see, yea that makes sense with level 110. :)

I'm pretty sure he's using his ranged ability then, before he charges in. Bile Spit.
If you ever use Nether portal...i just don't see how its worth using in any way. The demons it spawns do a lot less damage than your wild imps, so even if you sacrifice a shard and do a 1-2 shard HoG...it's still a loss of dps...unless the demon that spawns is a very strong one, like Prince Malch, but like...what are the odds of that happening?

Yea he might, But it doesn't really show as a casted bar does it ? :v

Yea I went back to the other talent that increases the dmg of shadow bolt and demon bolt.
it looks kinda cool :)
Looking cool don't change that it don't work. thats like having a Grater pyroblast that hits for a whooping 3% of someones HP pool and saying "but it looks cool" if its useless then it wont be used ever. so you wont see it outside of target dummys because it wont be used. lets not use the "looks cool" argument. half the reasons demo is broken is because = cool animation> working in a practical way
to OP. I highly suggest just rerolling for now, even if you love the class fantasy or theme or what ever or it was your favourite before. because right now warlock is about as awful as it could be , even "viable" specs are a chore to play of boredom. I refuse to play this character now purely because Blizzard refuses to fix the worse design they have ever presented us with.
