Gotta love that you actually feel and get weaker by leveling up.
As much as this self-evidently sucks, don’t expect anything to change. Blizzard do not care about the levelling game. At all. Not even the tiniest bit.
People were literally doing this forever during the last expansion.
FOR EVER.
I was even a part of it until I got bored (which tbh happened very fast)
Nothing happened.
I cannot take their game enforcement rules seriously.
Blizzard is well aware of this issue. The changes made to the scaling in lvling dungeons just encouraged this ever more. They nerfed all the old twink gear from 60 to ilvl 35, and then sold new twink gear at the vendor with the celebration event. Blizzard do not care about the issue.
The larger issue imo is the way that people lvl without gaining any gear. I just boosted a friend with my lvl 80 dk. They hit 70 with 165ilvl. How is someone supposed to do anything at lvl 70 with that. I can only conclude that it is intentional, with the intention being to force people to buy from the AH. In other words tokens.
Just a tip for people helping new starters. Spam a few DF hcs at 70. You can easily solo them with a decent geared lvl 80. 3-4 is enough to get someone’s ilvl up enough to play TWW dungeons or content.
I’m not going to explain the exploit part. But those that know, need to report it.
Come on man, it is prevalent in every trade chat across all realms. A law is only a good law when it has enforcement. This is one that has less teeth than a gummy bear. The recent changes only helped the twinks.
If blizzard really wanted to stop the twinks, then they only have to enable that everyone who enters a dungeon with a character who has locked exp will also get locked exp. Allow them to vote kick the said character to take the option of walking away and re-joining the queue back in the position they were in. Just take away the benefits.
This should also extend to level 20 players on a free account, who are also locked at 20.
I don’t think Blizzard intentionally designed level 11 characters to be so overpowered when scaling content. It seems more like an oversight, one that they haven’t addressed yet. That’s why some people may refer to it as ‘abuse’—they’re taking advantage of an unintended mechanic, which will likely be patched or fixed in the future
The scaling probably needs to be addressed but the shenanigans to remove the penalty is an exploit they should also fix.
Precisely. At some point, I don’t remember when, low lvl chrs got a powerboost to ease them up through the first… I can’t recall if it’s 20 or 30 levels. That’s what seems to be skewing everything when combined with mix-lvl groups.
It’s always been like that, group with a low-level and the instance was significantly easier to do. (Okay, not ‘always’, but for years.) Used to be though, that when the TW heroics came up, it was a very welcome change where the instance was in fact a little bit dangerous again, and you had to play your class a brit for it. Very easy fix for that, would be to simply reinstate the lvl 30-35 min. cap, but I digress.
I agree with the scaling.
Do you know some. Ppl intentionally lick their xp at lvl 10 bc its easier to farm the badges than if you make a lvl up chara the higher you get the weaker you are bc of scaling…
Its nuts and so we get ppl at lvl 11 using fury to tank dngs…
They wont reinstate bc they want a unified experiance, also there may be more fall off in ques bc of lvl caps but i see your point.
I honestly think the most telling point of this whole discussion, ( and the many similar posts), is all the workarounds and hotfixes people suggest. Underneath that, is the lack of faith in the underlying buggy system ever getting fixed at its core. That’s depressing…
The way the TW dungeons used to scale in DF worked perfectly well. The system where the whole instance, including players, were scaled to a base level of 30 or 35 or whatnot, and ilvl etc. was adjusted from there. It put everyone in the same bracket, and having a high level was still preferable because of more options, skills to use etc. Wish they would implement that across all instances, TW or not.
Find the average level of the group, scale base damage, mob hp etc. to that, then adjust for ilvl based on a players actual ilvl vs. actual lvl, that difference, (if any), can be scaled down to instance level +/- the ilvl vs. max ilvl for gap for the individual chr.
Something like that…
It never did. It’s something we opted in for because it made us feel OP and have much more fun doing the timewalking content. The level 11s are not only stronger, take less effort but don’t even help your main character.
Scaling is so absurdly bad that those dungeons are very unfun for me. I do them for the weekly and happy if i get lucky with a Level 11 Char, so it’s fast over.
But those who beg and whisper you to give them gold aren’t ok.
The macro is in the description, the pinned comment by the poster says -
Just talked to some of my Blizzard contacts and was told the macro mentioned in this video is not “okay” to use, considering it breaks the intended mechanic of the exp debuff with twinks. (This also includes all other ways to avoid the exp debuff)
They have agreed it’s an awkward design and it’s currently up for discussion as to what’s gonna happen to it
*I’m still keeping the video up because twinks are still fun, but keep that in mind
