It’s the same as asking why haven’t they removed shadowmourne, the legendary staff and daggers questline they are still around why was it that the cloak and the ring suddenly got removed and those didn’t? insert meme here

If that’s the ‘philosophy’ they follow they’d start doing that with raids before questlines.
What i think happened there was a sales technique
5.4 was a very long patch and people were quitting
Warning players that both Garrosh heirlooms and the legendary cloak questline will be removed either kept people subbed longer or brought back the people who unsubbed to finish the grind.
Probably part of it, but doubtful it was all of it. Besides there is no issue what-so-ever with a company using marketing to drive business provided it’s being truthful to its word.
Then why not do it to levelling quests as well, or entire expansions?. Got to draw the line somewhere. 1 questline in an old expansion isn’t much.

Personally i am convinced that it was a sales (not marketing) technique they pulled off in 5.4 since that patch was dragging for too long and people were unsubbing in droves.
I didn’t play at that point of Mists, so I don’t really know what was going on.
Maybe, maybe not. But it’s gone nevertheless. Who cares.
Dragonflight is an awesome expansion.

I like that idea of thinking. so when next patch hits they should remove the entire story line for Valdrakken. because then several month’s have passed since the expancion came out so nobody should care if we remove that quest line.
Ofcourse you wouldnt think thats a bad idea right? because DF gonna remain great. its just a entire storyline removed from the expancion
