I think it is a very bland and contrived “stat”, please rid us of it.
Yup.
But not going to happen.
Now it’s even more embodied into the game by becoming the “pvp stat” for SL.
Would you care to ellaborate? We have 8 stats in total with only 6 being at play in any character. Two are passives, so that leaves just the four secondaries.
Surely understanding how four stats work is not beyond anyone beyond the age of 6? Or would you substitute for something else? Please explain
At first, I hated versatility, but imo it grew on me as a stat.
I think its a pretty cool stat, however it is either too strong or too weak.
Certain parts of M+ you can never get past without having a high amount of versa, and that’s quite problematic if Versa isn’t good enough to give you damage to stay competitive, for example warriors in 8.3 lost a huge amount of dps if they didn’t go full haste.
Imo, it’s not versatility that is the problem, its interaction with other secondary stats and some classes being reliant on other stats too much that is the problem.
Some classes cannot function without a certain amount of crit or haste, which leavs little room for versatility to come into play, and like I said if that is not the case then versatility would skyrocket in value.
I think versatility enhancing other stats would make things more unique and interesting.
If I was asked to do this, I’d probably split the versatility stat into multiple stats that exist in the form of a 3rd stat on every item.
These stats would be known as the [ versatility stat ] which is one of :-
1- %Defense
2- %Damage
3- Haste multiplier
4- Crit multiplier
5- Mastery multiplier
6- Crit damage multiplier
7- CDR
8- GCD reduction
And items would look like
[ Base stat ]
[ Stamina ]
[ Armor ]
[ Secondary stat #1 ]
[ Secondary stat #2 ]
[ Versatility stat ]
This imo, would make itemization pretty wild and more interesting imo.
And allows builds like 50% cdr, GCD reduction cap ( 0.75 sec ) and big crits be a thing.
Make it a pvp stat.
Just to explain further, some time ago, maybe a long time ago, I read in a patch note, something like, “melee classes have to move a lot during combat and thus lose DPS, so we gave all melee classes a 10% DPS increase”.
If it was not already obvious, Blizzard make the numbers, and can easily, and at will, give “all melee classes” or maybe “Fury Warriors” a flat, 10% damage increase (or any damage change, positive or negative).
Such a “volume control” change does not likely change the rotation, or the playstyle, and might even go unnoticed, save for the DPS meters detecting it.
In my opinion Versatility is more or less similar “volume control” stat, that does nothing at all other than “tune the numbers” which is what Blizzard does continuously anyway.
In light of the above I am calling for Versatility to be dropped from a stat altogether.
All stats are bland.
Crit is just see bigger numbers. Haste is just press button faster. Most classes Mastery are at this point entirely passive damage% on certain skills.
Do you explain everything like that ;
Living is just breathing.
Eating is just swallowing something ![]()
Dying is sleeping.
But you remove versatility den I can no longer stack it for da troll womons.
When I say I be hasty, dey giggle. When I say I be masterful or I strike wit de critical, dey brush me off. When I say I be versatile, dats when de groove happens.
some classes can have 60%-70% Ver what has big effects …
Never really liked versatility honestly. At least haste and crit can do something to how your class works with its procs and whatnot. Versatility is just “you do more damage and take less, have fun”
Thats literally something all the other stats already do. Except that this one does that and nothing else. Even Armor Penetration was a more interesting stat tbh.
Vers is literally just primary stat but weaker.
Would prefer to have Multi-strike back even if it’s just a fancy crit.
I mean mastery for alot of classes is literally the same thing too, but for some specs its just so bad that its a stat you ignore
cough outlaw cough
I always wonder if I’m the only one who want multistrike back, rather than having vers…
TRUE THE BIGGEST TRUE THAT HAS EVER BEEN TRUE
And with that gone, we can reintroduce Block, Parry, Dodge, MP5, Spirit, Armorpen, Spellpen, Multistrike, Resillience, etc.
Here’s a better solution.
Make it a pvp specific stat. Job done.
How about No?! the last thing we want is to have parry block dodge and 50 other stats on top of legendaries on top of soulbinds and conduits on top of covenants on top of classes.
The game systems are already complicated enough. No need to add 50 stats to the mix.
They kinda did that already even if it can be on PvE gear aswell but a majority of loot from the raid doesnt have Versatility on it while PvP gear will always have Versa on it unless I’m mistaken.
The raid gears still drop vers.
and pvp gears mostly have vers which is fine.
But overall, I think it would have been better if vers was mostly obtained from pvp and pve was there for trinkets or some unique pieces here and there and not as the main source.
Personally, I’m one of those people that believes it’s ok to ask people to step out of their comfort zone for the sake of that boost in power. Which is why i loved the essence system (Its unfriendly alt nature aside).
But nowadays, pvp gear is basically 99% coming from pve, which isn’t a good system in my opinion.
It may be the rose-tinted glasses speaking, but ya, didn’t masteries use to be really unique? I only briefly played during Cata, and not at all in Mists, but I have this vague memory of elemental shaman mastery basically being like a multistrike.
How about not removing anything i think wow has been simplified way to much, how about we bring back old stats instead
