Whenever the music ends, it just starts again and it is killing me. It doesn’t fit the zone, and while the music itself is fine, it doesn’t work in the Southern Barrens, and it basically destroys the whole experience of leveling in that zone.
I know that it sounds petty, I know that there are more important things to worry about, but I am a huge Kalimdor fan, and one of the few who consider the Southern Barrens an interesting zone to level in, but I’ve been skipping it simply because the Warfront music is there.
My only wish is to return the zone back to the 7.3.5 status, that’s all.
That Warfront music is entirely out of place there. I’m not sure it has a place even in Warfront, since I’m not fond of it, but it is completely inappropriate in the Barrens.
Thanks, I am glad that I am not the only one who noticed it.
I’ve been fighting a war against it. I have reported it numerous times. During the beta, in the PTR, when the pre-patch launched, post-launch, and a few times after that. I’ve made topics about it in the beta sections of the forum, both EU and US, and I’ve made a topic about it in General before, months ago.
It feels like it’s intentional, but if it is a choice, it’s one of the worst choices ever since it doesn’t fit the zone, and it’s extremely poorly executed (with only one Warfront track on a loop).
To show how bad it is as well: https://youtu.be/Fd6heDnVQ7E
I tried to focus on how often the music switches. When you start at Taurajo, you hear Tauren music, and that quickly shifts to Warfront music when you leave it. In the Overgrowth, you hear specific music, but leaving it results in the same Warfront track. Forward Command plays Stormwind music, but again, if you leave that settlement…
It’s just tiring, and I hope someone notices this and sees why this is the case.
Sorry for the rant but it’s damn annoying that I have to hear it over and over agian.
I think bringing back an entire OST would be way too confusing to new players. Imagine the horrors of being in the Southern Barrens and being used to the current music then next time you log in and before you even look at the screen a different music starts playing… Which would begin a big few hours/days/months/years of deep thought on whether or not they are even in the right zone, considering the music is different. As we all know new players are not very good with directions, so something like that could be DEVASTATING to the community as a whole so I’m gonna have to kindly and factually disagree with your request.
Either way im glad teh music was there. As music addict i constantly seek for good music and since i dont have bfa i would have complitely missed this one if it werent put there. Whether it was meant to be there or not.
I’m in the minority, Darkshore’s current music is fine for me and fits the zone well. Although Blizzard should’ve left the older tracks at some places, that is agree with.
It turns out that music is important to a lot of people, were it nostalgia or the whole zone-feeling or experience. It’d have been nice if Blizzard took that into account when revamping Darkshore during Cata.
Make sure to check out the Darkshore Warfront music as well.
