Please stop this

I just did the Storm Wake emissary for a new weapon; and guess what? I’ve got a weapon for a spec I have never ever played in my life (Combat) = I’ve got a frigging mace. How cool is that?
(edit: my main is assa rogue, the char selection on forum is messed up aswell it seems)

I think its changing to be spec based in the new patch…

Just in case you haven’t seen

For those who missed Watcher’s most recent update:

In Season 2, emissary caches and similar rewards like Assault wrapper quests will award loot based on your spec (or loot spec, if chosen) instead of your class.

Standard world quests will continue to provide rewards based on class rather than spec, for two reasons:

  1. You can see the exact reward up-front, and choose whether or not to do the content if the reward doesn’t interest you. This also can offer a way to shore up weak off-spec slots without worrying that you might miss out on a major upgrade.
  2. If world quest rewards were spec-based, it might seem like the right behavior to cycle through your specs when evaluating potential rewards for every world quest, especially early in a tier, which seems like pretty annoying gameplay.

But neither of those reasons applies to something like emissaries or Assaults, where you don’t see what the reward will be until the end. And as you say, it can be frustrating if it’s for a spec you have no intention of playing, or it can simply feel like a bug. So we’re changing it.

I love how they assume what everyone thinks is fun or annoying, then turn around and nerf fun parts of the game and continue to force RNG-only progression down our throats!

It’s a running theme.

Anyway, I do hate RNG already and I’d rather see RNG tailored to some form of pattern (as in, a specific spec) rather than RNG on top of RNG (on top of RNG on top of RNG, just in case you forgot that you are hoping that something drops at all, for the right spec, is an upgrade and/or is upgraded; and is upgraded to the highest level).

Honestly, what we are getting should always be transparent, and switching specs to switch the WQ reward is far less annoying than RNG-only progression!

I must admit I wouldn’t find it an inconvenience to change spec to see a loot drop from a WQ.

I recently levelled up my monk who is a tank, they still had a 273 polearm from questing while every other items was 340.
I do the weapon quest and get a 340 polearm… With Int. That’s going to do me so much good.

Naturally I had to equip it, because the 70 odd ilvls it worth it, but really? Why wasn’t this glaring issue fixed sooner? Pretty sure I reported things like this in the 1st live weeks of Beta of Azeroth.

Changing spec 2 or 3 times takes a few seconds. Hardly a waste of time.

Doing a World Quest with either an unknown gear piece reward or hoping for an upgrade proc, putting far more time and effort into it (especially if you have to wait for spawns, groups to form or a killing the Alliance there first) only to have RNG decide it wants to bend you over and have its way with you, is far more depressing, annoying and wasting of time!
