I hope they do keep PL for pugging, or I’m likely never setting a foot inside a raid again unless it’s literally just for the achievement/end of expansion mount and I have 0 need for the loot. Personal Loot is one of the best things they did in modern WoW.

Only subpar guilds abuse masterloot.
Every decent guild that wants to clear the content at human pace will hand loot at his best.

What are you even on about? This is a video game. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with prioritising yourself, your own fun and personal progression when playing video games in your spare time.

The game has changed in my eyes atleast from a very group oriented experience to a pug lobby where only your individual progress matters.
I want back the days where you actually needed the guild and the community to thrive.
If you were an *%&#¤"# you would be kicked out of your guild (unless your guild was “Bad Apples”)
Also to me there is something wrong with prioritizing yourself over for example guilds progress. Dont tell me how to feel!
Well, I don’t. I enjoy the game much more when pugging with personal loot compared to the master loot guild days. I still remember that one Emerald Nightmare trinket that was given to the officer purely because they were an officer when the said trinket scaled with my spec significantly better. That doesn’t happen anymore. I don’t want stuff like that, or items being reserved, back.
We shall agree to disagree i hope. I also remember the hundred times when i couldn’t trade a loot because mine happened to be two ilvl’s lower or the times when someone chose to keep a great loot for transmog when it would be a huge upgrade to a guildie.
You have no business deciding what someone prioritises in the game. I would’ve done that too if I genuinely liked the transmog and wanted to use it in a set.

The guilds that know how to deal with it properly are a handful few compared to all the guilds that can’t do it properly.

Ofc i don’t. But i can still judge them as a person for that.
For many people transmog is THE endgame and motivating factor to do content. If I walked into a normal raid right now just to get a recolour of the tier set that I like, I won’t be trading away the transmog that I looted and tried my best to collect. If someone doesn’t get these sets now, it’ll take a while until they get the chance to solo it as legacy content. Now that I think of it… a person who’s in there for transmog will actually have a use for the item for a longer time than someone who wants their 10 ilvl upgrade to replace a low ilvl item and will likely replace the item soon with something from the vault.

And thats all fine and dandy in a pug setting or even in some guilds. But hypothetically speaking if i were to be a GM of a guild I wouldnt invite you to it or progress raids knowing what i know now.
We have different endgame goals and you wanting to hinder my endgame is just as bad as me hindering yours.
Because their interstet is not to clear the content at least at normal human speed.

instead trying to patch up a corpse they should work on much better experience while pugging.

The most important thing is to have a crystal clear ruleset. Once you have that kind of situation and you know that the guild is going to stick to it, it’s up to you to accept the priority system or leave and find another guild.
Anyway wherever you will go, you have to accept compromise as a part of the equation. If everyone wants every piece that is an equip improvement the guild will explode as it is supposed to have a groupwide attention and mindset and not a 1+1+1+1 (aka Pug) mindset.
Sounds like you were in bad guilds, dps typically get loot priority.
I miss masterloot, being able to pug and reserve items? Cuts out half the grind, good times.
I have never seen it abused and i welcome it.
I have seen personal loot being abused by greedy people…

I would prefer intelligent group loot over personal or master loot. Basicly boss will only drop items that can be used by someone. For example is a group doesn’t have a hunter, a bow won’t drop from it. And than game will also decide on what you can need depending on whats usable for your character. So I as a warrior wont be able to need on staves and healer trinkets. They can also use some other rules on what u can or cant need.
Like I can be a dps but if my loot is set to Protection (tank), I will be able to need on tank items but not on dps items. It would also be good if we could need on secondary loot items if no one with primary loot needs that item.
