Also the risk of Wow 2 is that people just go find another MMO cause they take so long to develop.
Stop talking about wipeout. Wipeout doesnât have to happen. Just like we have classic and tww at the same time, we can also to have WoW2 and WoW1(existing game) at the same time.
Presumably, WoW1 would stop receiving major updates, but there is no need to wipeout anything.
And stop ignoring the previous explanations that people dontâ want to enter a standalone version of WoW 1. That the entire thing means I have lost my characters collection or means to go back and go and grab things Iâve not yet acquired.
My interest in playing wow is completely based on my continuing on this character doing all the content that is already available to me plus expansions and patches that are to come. With my full collection intact.
Yeah but what do you want for an update?
- unreal engine change? Now the assets are incompatible between games, so gonna have to redo them all for Wow2 - will take time.
- Will the DB need to change, can we even give characters on WOW2 the same stuff in the new version?
- Will it run properly on the same hardware?
The dev team is split having to duplicate work between versions and we wonât get expacs as fast.
Itâs under Compatibility Settings under Graphics. By default itâs enabled. The tooltip itself says that it should be disabled only in cases of crashes.
Pro WoW2 because of:
- New leveling experience without stupid scaling which kills sense of becoming stronger and is completely out of place in a mmorpg
- World without stupid Zidormi phasing which splits zones in parallel universes and is completely out of place in a mmorpg.
- No arcade nonsense which is completely out of place in a mmorpg
- If they want WoW to go for another 20 years, then new foundations seems like a good idea as existing game is crumbling under itâs own weight.
No, porting from âWoW1â to theoretical WoW2 would create visual mess.
A modern game can to be light weight/ potato friendly.
The closest youâll get is the expansion after â the trilogyâ.
Tbf, weâre pretty much in WoW 2 or 3 already. The game has changed so much over the years, itâs not even recognisable anymore.
While all things are possible, I donât expect to see a WoW II anytime soon. Short of the gameâs vision finally exceeding the capabilities of its ancient spaghetti code, to the point where the devs decide that enough is enough, what would even be the point?
If WoW 2 ever went full hyper realistic unreal engine, I would imagine it would lose itâs charm. There is a reason why the entire WarCraft franchise is cartoony from that Thrall game to Warcraft I, II and III all the way to what it is now, so a big no for me, personally.
After the current trilogy ends, and with the upcoming expansion of that time, I would like to return to our original continents with remastered visuals and a new lore. I would consider it as WoW 2. I donât want to lose tons of cosmetics I unlocked so far. I like role-playing and I developed some of my toons around those cosmetics. They are very important for me. Even, I spent money for some. As long as modern WoW continues to progress Iâm sticking with it.
WoW 2 as a separate stand alone game? Modern WoW takes a lot of time already. For time being I donât think I would be hyped for WoW 2, and it would require a brand new computer that Iâm not willing to pay for at time being, and I am certain considering average development history of the original, WoW 2 would be out with tons of bugs and problems that would take a lot of time to be fixed.
Every cosmetic item got carried over from OW1 to OW2.
Could do the same for wow2
Isnât that what midnight will be?
I donât have any info about Midnight except housing feature. If so, there is no need for WoW 2 in my opinion.
I donât see the game having a fresh start as a negative thing in any way.
and once again, some of you need to realise that you will lose all of it one day. with or without wow2
believe me it would be better if we get wow2 because then youâd have chance of some stuff transferring in some ways but otherwise the game will be shut down like any other mmo does. there are only few games from the 90s left today, most of the mmos from 2000s are gone.
first they will put it on maintenance mod & will just do hotfixes and then one day itâll be gone for good when they stop making money.
so hoping for wow 2 is being optimistic.
weâre all entitled to have our own opinions ofc.
and about UE discussion. i wouldnât want to lose the current artstyle but blizzard making a new engine for wow 2 is also a scary possibilty considering the things that happened to that cancelled survival game.
i hope they find a way to keep the same art style and work with an engine that has the capacity for big open world fights etc.
After this expansion set (War Within, Midnight, SomethingElse) theyâre gonna release Classic Plus with brand new dungeons and raids, and then start off branching the WoW universe.
Maybe weâll get thrown into a new world soul(planet), or a completely different timeline. They might re-release all expacs as part of the âPlusâ-series, or maybe theyâll release different expansions for Classic Plus, branching off as a different timeline, and thatâs just gonna be WoW 2.
I donât know but Iâm placing my bets on Classic Plus basically being/becoming WoW 2, and it releasing towards the end of the world saga trilogy. It might receive an expansion as soon as the last xpac concludes.
We know of only 2 (or 3?) zones so far that will be revamped in Midnight: Ghostlands, Eversong Woods (and Isle of QuelâDanas?). What @Asumathivae refers is for revamping all of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms.
We also know that The Last Titan will possibly see a revamped Ulduar (and Storm Peaks?), but not a revamped Northrend.
In an interview, Chris Metzen said they have been brainstorming lore for all the way through expansion #17 (ie. version 18.x of the game, which is 5 expansions after The Last Titan)
Let me guess, thrall saves the day.
wow 2 will come out if this one dies.
but since we have few people that are trying to keep it alive with the old saying : i will lose all of my thingS then it means it will be around for more few years.
in the next 5 years they have to do a big fundamental change
Not impossible, itâs his favorite character anyway.
