Possible Light and Void expansion after SL?

What do you guys think about the story of BfA and current “invasions” of the Light and the Void into the Shadowlands? Do you think there could be some kind of Light vs. Void expansion in the future? If I think about N’Zoth in BfA. The fact the he is probably not dead, and the Gift of N’Zoth remaining after his defeat. All those “special quotes” he tells to those who have kept it. I really would like to see something more with the Void and the Light in the future :). Given all the prophecies from him. He knew about Turalyon, about Sylvanas and the Jailer, basically about everything that is happening right now in the Shadowlands.

It would be really cool if we could like somehow “choose” to serve either N’Zoth and the Void, or the Light in the future expansion. Blizzard already gave us a glimpse of a “3rd faction” in BfA for those with Gift of N’Zoth. We also know about “the Lightbound” - alternate timeline draenei and orcs being fanatically loyal to the Light. All of this could make a really cool expansion in the future.

What do you think guys?

You expect too much from Bllizzard.

Not unlikely but I think such an expansion would lame many people out because it’d necessarily blur the moral lines between Light and Void even more. Not that I would dislike it btw. To me there is no place for moral absolutism in WoW

I’m going to leave here a note that may mean a lot, and few people have noted:

With the latest Battle.net app update, that included the portraits of all covenant leaders and relevant characters of BfA, Blizzard also introduced the one labelled as Yrel.

Iirc they openly talked about exploring more the Light and the Void, using SL to start and introducing some new things on the matter.

I actulay think N´zoth and the jailer where connected somehow, if rember killing Azhara, you can se the chains breaking letting N´zoth loose, well we probably did, but I think at same time we let the Jailer loose also, assuming he was not fully loose at that point.

other idea could also have been, that when we let N´zoth loose, we at same time broke the connection to the shadowlands, we know the Jailer is using chains to drag in other worlds in shadowlands, what could have been N´zoth actualy was an anchor point to Azeorth from shadowlands, reason why sylvanas needed the helm of domination also, to truly open the way.

Well with no more demons to fight I think the Army of Light and their Exarch Turalyon will turn their attention on the inhabitants of Azeroth.

I find the Battle.net app addition of a Yrel avatar alongside other key character from the SL xpac very ominous and a portents of her return in the near future.

Maybe they’ll try and usher in AU Yrel and the Lightbound through the Dark Portal to assist with purging Azeroth for some perceived “Greater Good”.

…Then maybe it will go horribly wrong for everyone again, when those they brought in to help with their crusade are even more zealotry than them in their beliefs.

If we want to discuss Turalyon’s future involvement, we cannot forget about Alleria, ever. Turalyon is not just a Lightforged “ends justify the means” guy, that might on first glance fit radicalized Yrel’s profile, he is also husband to the leader of the Void Elves. And his more questionable actions in the recent novel weren’t in the name of unity under the Light, they were in the name of the Alliance, in direct cooperation with Void magic.

Now, Yrel’s “convert or die” policy doesn’t exactly fit very well together with any toleration of void users. So Turalyon couldn’t really join her, without turning on his wife. The way Tualyon and Alleria interacted in Shadows Rising it seemed to me that the relationship is still working out well enough for now, which might suggest that Turalyon opposing Yrel would actually be the more likely scenario, if the Lightbound invaded. A disappointment for the players who want to see more Alliance bad guys, to be sure, but just looking at his established character motivations, he isn’t likely to join this particular purge. I actually think he would be more likely to work as a villain in a future faction conflict than one in a cosmic plot.

But it is of course still possible to change that. To push Turalyon toards the Lightbound would require something to shatter the bonds with Alleria, if Blizzard cares in the least about the character they presented. Now, the obvious idea here would be Alleria falling to the Void, which would require a major plot of its own (probably involving their son’s death). But that plot is relatively unlikely to play out within Shadowlands, so it probably wouldn’t be done by 10.0. We could still lose Turalyon during the course of the addon, but I don’t see how they could make him turn on us at the start. At least as long as they don’t try to tell the pivotal story in novels alone, as they did - and regretted - with Warcrimes.

And I don’t really see much else that has been set up which could open the rift between them to allow for full purge mode. I mean, they could of course have Yrel do some Light-based mind control on him, but that wouldn’t really reflect on his character at all, and could be done to pretty much anyone. It would also be a repetition of the Anduin Death control scenario we have now. That doesn’t make it impossible, but it surely would be a bad idea.

Since forever I have wanted an Emerald Dream expansion, but it has never happened.

Now is probably the time where I feel most optimistic about it happening.

It feels like all the ingredients are there for what an expansion needs.

And it seems to me that Blizzard have been introducing and furthering some themes and plotlines in the last few expansions that could have a natural conclusion in The Emerald Dream. Elune herself. The Night Warrior. The Nightmare. And so on.

I think that whole Light versus Void expansion will come further down the line. I think it comes in the wake of a broader cast of Light-affiliated beings getting introduced and the plans of Xal’atath and Azshara and N’zoth being furthered a bit more.

But that’s just a guess on my part.

I think next expansion would be something along the lines Revenge of the titans, sargeras is there with them he might show the the truth he saw and with his arguments alone turn them to his side. Then titans will go after remaining worlds to wipe out all life in the cosmos. Also we might get another AU expansion as Multiverse is a thing for a long time in warcraft.

Wouldnt that be complicated given both Void elves and Lightforged are in the same faction? some are even married to each other (Alleria and Turalyon). Plus it would just make Alleria as a raid boss, which will only be a repetition of the Windrunner gone evil drama.

AND it would give the Alliance the spotlight, as they have both the void and Light on their side. Unless Golden eyes for Blood elves count as “Light”.

I’m not talking about void elves or lightforged draenei. I’m talking about Light and Void in general. Given the “fanatical” behavior of the Light recently, for example Xe’ra or the Lightbound in AU. Or Alleria talking about whispers in her mind being much stronger since we have killed N’Zoth.

9.3 return to azeroth and crazy tyralion

If there is we’d better finally get some decent reactions between Lightforged and Void Elves. Seems like a bit of an obvious elephant in the room of the Alliance and a good bit of potential story telling.

Which is probably why it won’t happen actually

Internal strife within the Alliance?

I think this all comes down to, do Blizzard go through whit the idea of an time skip when we are in Shadowlands, where time on Azeorth goes faster, meening Turalyon goes desperate or something, what could be possible.

They were pretty firm on that one already. It’s time perception that’s different there, not time itself.

I’m thinking the next expansion will be something to do with the Void Lords. Just have a strange feeling.
On another note, someone above mentioned the Emerald Dream. I’m sure I remember something years ago about Blizz saying they were doing an expansion based on it. Or was I drunk?

The players were asking for a long time for the Dream expansion, but they refuse to do it. Last argument was “but it’s all just forests, it would be boring”.

Did not stop them with MoP (which originally got negative feedback precisely for how similar locations originally were), or WotLK (snow everywhere?). When convenient - that excuse “works”, when not - not.

Well, I’d agree on that one, though. It would be as strange and unazerothian as the Shadowlands, just with different types of plantlife. Hard pass for me.

…I also wouldn’t be surprised if some Lifelands stuff is already being set up right now.
