Possible Solution Access Violation

System:

  • Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO
  • i9-13900K
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
  • W11

Initial situation:

After a long break i bought myself “The War Within” and installed it. On game start i had a white screen/ window with Access Violation. Never had issues with other games or
applications like that. Even stability tests with MemTest86, Prime95, 3D-Mark, etc. no abnormalities.
According to Error-Log it was with error 138, here excerpt:

Measures like BIOS-Update, driver, auto boot, reinstallation, etc. without success.
As i rechecked the Windows Event Viewer an error on “TPM-WMI” with ID 1796 got my attention, rather sporadically and not at the same time with the Crashs. Research revealed: “Secure Boot”, worth a try…

Solution:

In Bios under “Boot” on “Secure Boot” i changed two settings:
1.“OS Type” from “Other OS” to Windows UEFI mode"
2.“Secure Boot Mode” from “Custom” to “Standard”

After save and restart i had a white screen/ window with the options: “End Task” und “Wait for Application” i choosed “Wait for Application”. Shortly thereafter the game startet and i hadn’t, even after restart my PC, a white screen/ window.

Maybe someone else also has this problem and hopefully this solution helps him out. Good luck!

Also started to get lots of access violations recent days. Never had them before and I’m playing classic. That’s weird. Didn’t have time to run memory tests yet…

My problem wasn’t the ram, i can run XMP1 without errors. It was a boot option in bios.
Btw MemTest86 runs using only one core in default, you can go in options and change to use all cores, thats much faster.
