Posts locked after 30 days... Why? How? ... why?

So here’s my post Blizzard, that I really hope you’ll take under consideration. I get that this new forum style of yours is to prevent people from bumping posts, but… the way I see it, there’s a downside to it, and that is, that people are creating vastly more posts, cause they have to create new ones after 30 days of no replies (Unless of course this is being changed at some point.)

What annoys me about this, is that I stumbled upon an (old) post that was more than 30 days old since last reply, and thus could not chime in with my idea / thoughts… and it bugs the **** outta me, cause now, I have to either wait untill someone else makes a post about it, (which again creates more clutter on your forums), or I can make my own post, (Which also creates more clutter) instead of just replying to the old post (which of course would inevitably bump it to the top) but with it being a legit reply, I cant see the problem.

I guess its one of those situations where someone (a minority perhaps) went and did a bad thing, and now everyone is being punished for their misdeeds… Sorry for the rant. I just dont get this new forum system.
Again, blizzard I really hope you revert it back to the old system, or find some middle ground.

I prefer the new system, we no longer have to deal with trolls burying discussions under years old topics. If a topic hasn’t been discussed for 30 days it’s pretty much not current either way.

i actually completely agree with Puny here.

i have a strong distaste for “necroing” older threads.
if a thread hasnt been replied to for 30 days or more then its not current anymore and the topic/conversation is done. so i think 30 days are more than enough.
i dont want to get notifications of age old threads just because someone was too lazy to search for a newer one or create his own.

i mean i dont see new threads as clutter, i see it as new, current topics to discuss.

i hope blizzard keeps the current system, dont see why they should change it anyways as it works perfectly fine.

Yeah but instead we end up having 30k posts of people complaining about Rio, or titanforging, or WoW is dead, or casual vs non casual :rofl: you guys should create new sections in the forum lol.
Sections: WoW is dead
Rio issues
Titanforging complains
Quit WoW farewell.
Clear our beautiful general out. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mind the new system, but I think you can request a topic to open again, if it makes sense to re-open it.

No true, lots of topics on the beta for azeroth forums are still relevant.

why, what is it with your people and necro. if it’s relevant it is relevant. Since the days I remember on any forum there is always those 2 people crying about necro even when it’s relevant.

I’m glad the wow forums is no longer the best way to get info about wow or to discuss it. Reddit is way better than the forums. No subscription needed, no ridicules trust levels, no necros cause reddit works different (better) than forums which is a concept of 1999, also no censoring of naughty words lmao, this forum is way to sensitive.

Things change and are updated all the time, there are patches, hotfixes, etc so the original discussion is often out of date. If it’s something relevant or ongoing it wouldn’t get closed because people would still be taking part.

No it’s not. Bugs from the beta forums are still present to this day. The reason you don’t see it on the forums is well for starters, nobody cares about bfa anymore, or very little do. Most care for Classic or left with the horrible start this xpac had.

But secondly you don’t see it because Blizzard doesn’t care what you or I think, if they did, they listened to the beta forums and fixed all of it, but no. So less and less people are likely to post about it.

But Reddit is full of it, so I’m sure sub counts are very low and people using the forums as well.

in the end I have to create new topics about the same stuff and that clutters the forums and Google search. But whatever forums (of any topic) are a dying breed for good reason. Way to many power hungry mods and stuff like this. People just want to see whatever they want to se
just to pull them up for no reason
That indeed sucks. I’ve seen that. But simply ban them and done. Can’t be hard.

Well, yes and no… But this forum have a very long history of people searching year old post just to pull them up for no reason, and a lot of times they were just lifted with the word bump

But I agree that 30 days is a bit short, and they could extend it to 90 or 120 days in my opinion

then use reddit, problem solved.

Already do as do 1.3? Million others. But also like the forums because that’s where the last batch of die hard fanboys is at. And generally they are very funny.

if you say so.

Well no, you can look for yourself. But this comment is why I’m here. The fanboys like you, who cannot help themselves from making fun materials.

http:// reddit. com/r/wow
1.1M users (can’t post links because I don’t read 20k posts a month lmao) anyway from what I’ve seen the past months the forums has about 100 active users and about 1K users and 10K viewers. FAR from reddit. Why o why would that be? Point being the new forums made the forums worse, yes that was even possible. Not that being able to necro would save it. Forums as a whole is dying to reddit.

jesus christ, get off my back. you are interpreting WAAAAAAAY too much into 4 simple words. i probably should have just said “whatever, i dont care” if that is more clear to you. people can use whatever forum they want. i couldnt care less. i just dont see the problem complaining about something you dont use that much anyways. kinda a nonissue.

and who hurt you that you need to accuse/insult other people of being a fanboy just because they are completely indifferent to your opinion? geez, seek help.

please dont drag me into this rabbit hole of your delusions with you, thanks, im not interested. :+1: have a nice day.

That I don’t believe in
A lot of things in this forums are making people grind their teeth, but necroing isn’t the one I hear most people complain about

From my time on this forum, the activity is very much the same

You see the same posters, and then you see new enter the scene and old ones leave - it’s very stagnent in that way

I doubt that too, necroing threads was a pain before.

And if it really is a topic worth making a reply to, then make a new post and link the old… A lot of posters are already doing that :man_shrugging:

Game specific forums always have a hard competitions with forums who has a lot of subforums - And Reddit is living up to what the creators wanted it to be

Bugs are reported in game. They aren’t reported on the forums. If it is in the live game you need to use the in game tool to report.

That would be me.

I think the new system works better and the one thing I would say, people who think their comment is a new take on something are probably wrong. I have not seen a new and exciting idea for a long, long time.

I’ve been around these forums since the first version of them, this is the third incarnation, and I have seen everything commented on for every World of Warcraft subject.

Somebody missed something :see_no_evil:

to answer the title:

so people can’t necro threads from years or many months ago
