Potential classes to main?

Hi, let me start by saying i guess im an altoholic in a way. I always have this idea in my head to main one class but it doesnt stick for too long. I’ve been playing WoW for many years and was more persistent with playing one class in earlier days, dont know if the game has changed and doesnt keep my interest as much or i just got older.

Recently been playing my hunter but in past two weeks i kind stopped progressing with him and been non stop reading info about DF to try and decide what class to main. When it come to classes i tend to look for good self sustain for solo play and old content, nice transmog, helpful in party situations (utility and such) and generally in a good spot throughout the expansions. Mainly doing M+ content to collect gear.

Some classes i’ve narrowed it down to so far:

Death Knight - Enjoy the 3 specs although the rotation feels a little clunky sometimes, transmog and solo is great.
Demon Hunter - I like both specs, but they feel more like half a spec each, spamming same stuff all the time. Transmog is ok, not much class choice.
Warrior - Mainly enjoy fury here, maybe a bit too fast paced. Transmog mostly pretty good, not sure about solo capabilities.
Warlock - Like all 3 specs, nice utility, good mogs. World solo seems great, not sure about old raids.

I know i should play what i enjoy, so im not looking for answer as to what i should play, I would just like to hear your personal opinions about these classes (and maybe other suggestions) and how they are doing in DF currently as i dont have access to it unfortunately.

All feedback would be much appreciated.

Really depends on what you want to do ingame aswell as mog farm and old raids but its easy enough to keep on top of those 4 classes you said and maybe add BM hunter to the mix.
Warlock out of the 4 you said sticks out for me

Hunter or mage always have spots in all content - they’re a safe bet pretty much every expansion.

DRUID

Hunter i like and is pretty chill, but i only really enjoy BM and there is so many hunters around that there is hardly any uniqueness to it, not to mention the competition for a group spot. Mail mogs are also the worst in my eyes, which is a shame. If it wasnt for these things id probably carry on playing it.

Mage is not bad, but i only like playing frost. Only liking one spec will put me at a disadvantage at some point for sure. Solo wise im not sure, kiting works but takes longer. Cloth mogs are great for most part.

Druid use to be my main in BC going into Wrath. These days i dont like the changes they made throughout the years and the way the specs play now.

More opinions are welcome, thanks.

Interesting take, but i suppose as it shows anything can change within 1 season, take survival hunter for example. Seeing warlock generally at the bottom seems strange as throughout the year i remember them being at or near the top most of the time.

Windwalker seems interesting, i like the gameplay, but not sure if self sustain is that great. Their tier sets are really good too.

Resto shaman, Mistweaver, Holy paladin, or that new dragon healer.

Since you mentioned 3 melee Tank/DPS specs, have you consider Enchantment Shaman? Beside that you can also cover range and healing roles, as well. Druid and Paladin could be good options if you want to tank.

I think a lot of people are now in the same situation as you are. I am, too. What I do now is leveling all classes/specs that I am interested in and debating what I like and what not about them. Currently juggling between Priest, Shaman and Druid since I like to range DPS and Heal, plus Mage as a potential alt for fun.

Indeed i am doing the same thing with the 4 classes mentioned above. I have tried shaman and generally like it, but it feels somewhat squishy and again not a fan of mail armor, but i think the main thing is that i play alliance and i dont like any alliance races for shaman. In terms of tanks i dont play that role a lot, its mainly to help myself solo if needed or help others in trivial content.

Yea, I have similar problem with my shaman, love the fantasy but mail armor sucks and dwarf is the only good shaman race from Alliance side. I was thinking to faction change but costs a lot of money.

And what about Paladin? They have good mogs, covering more then one role, and they are pretty tanky?

The new evoker healer can currently only heal max 25 yards range… while the others have 40 yards… wierd indeed…

Yeah, we will see how that works out. It is not that a strange range. I am used to be in between of melee and ranged anyway otherwise things like chainheal is not jumping. And Ascendance is 30 yards too. And tremor totem. Too much stuff not 40 yards anyway.

I was just playing a paladin before i went back to my hunter. Similarly its a very populated class and playing ret you are pretty much always the last dps pick out of everyone unfortunately. Not a fan of holy, just doesnt flow well for me.

well start of every expansion without fail mage , rogue , priest always do best.

End of expansions Hunters , shamans , warlocks

We are sadly so close to prepatch, everythings soon to change. And with DF rhere are some glaring issues among the dps pool.

And that is whats bringing a ton of utility while other classes are getting none.

The 4 classes u have chosen im afraid are on more on the scale of getting none, however warlock will also keep its raid spot due to the utility it brings.

But when it comes to DH warrior or DK. Its alot more up in the air,

DKs utility can be put in the tank slot, if Blood is a competitive tabk which may reduce the demand of DPS DKs depending on their dps output.

Warriors dont rly bring utility at all barring battle shout, which will be wanted for raids but less so in m+.

And DH has a buff but too can be filled by the tank slotz and its dps specc will largely depend on its balance.

Regarding utility is why im drawn to Warlock, there is no other classes that provide what they do and they are not overplayed like some others. Everyone always seem to want a Warlock even if they dont perform that well.

Yeah, defintly in raids warlocks always have a spot, in m+ generally less so when underperforming, although atm theyre quite meta in regards to a dps.

Ive been personally debating weather to ppay a DK rogue or feral for next expansion tbh, although i think rogue is my best choice

The combo points just dont click with me. Having played a bit of DK in wrath classic recently if they half of the utility in retail that they had in wrath id probably go for them. Its a real shame they have pruned all that away, even the passive stuff.

PVP doesnt interest me currently. Focusing on PVE mainly.
