Nobody is on a trial to have to talk about statistics, evidence and hearsay.
We only need to trust that people will pick the path of least resistance if they can.
A player who is well versed in being an AH goblin will find it the easiest to make the gold via the AH. More power to them for outplaying everyone else.
The others who are are not cut for the business of making profits by flipping the items gathered by others but have disposable income will find the token gold much more tempting compared to manual ingame labor to gather millions of gold. (especially at times where the gold of the token is high)
Of course there is also (what I assume to be) the majority of players who generally does not considers buying gold or looking at the BMAH something to consider.
Oh boy, I remember how much anchor weed I had to farm for the Brutosaur…
Edit: I forgot about the high end players who can also make a lot of gold by boosting for gold
I think maybe were are just overestimating how many people would spend over 100-200quid to get an item off BHAM.
For the Brutosaur on the other hand i agree that most people simply threw money at it. But it was a limited edition AH mount so there is a larger sense of urgency and fear to miss out so people went wild with the tokens.
Ill finish by saying that i understand both sides of the argument, the sets are being released regardeless of anyone’s opinion. Have a nice day folks
I believe that what is limiting the popularity of the BMAH is the randomness of the listed items which makes more people to not even bother.
If there was a known set schedule to the items in the BMAH, then there would be more people butting heads for specific items like the T3 warrior set (which on its BMAH version is also useable by a DK unlike on its original raid drop version)
This is probably the reason they do not let characters below level 70 to access it. To prevent people from having an alt on each server for scoping the BMAH
Yeah they fixed it idk in what expansion. But lvling isnt hard, but still the effort to lvl and get gold on dead realms is quite a challenge for alot of players, that’s why its kinda sad they handing those sets to everybody…
I wonder if there is a chance those items will be recolored.
The dreadnought set is just not the same without the blue glow trademarked by the Lich king.
They could had changed the tint of the metal but nooo they had to touch the color of the glow
No, it will do exactly the opposite. The cool and unique stuff not owned by everyone is naturally becoming not cool and not unique when like 90+% of playerbase will have it, it will be just embarassing when instead of 1 guy in legendary T3 set you will see now 100 people running around in the same T3 set… you really still dont get it?
Why do you, for example, think that 90 or 100 years old veteran cars are so unique and rare? Because they look cool? Yes, aswell, but mainly they are rare and unique because NOT EVERYONE have it, thats what makes it truly rare and unique in the first place, appearance itself is just right behind it, not the other way around.
It’s WoW, not a high end esport. Flexing something you got in wow is… how do I put this politely: cringe.
Most people collect and transmog for themselves. When is the last time you really inspected others on how they look? 99% I only notice my own transmog. Same with mounts. The exception being when I see someone on a very flashy (as in graphically bright) mount I don’t know because it’s new.
Not all players want to gatekeep pixels. I have the mythic jaina mount from when it was current content. It’s supposedly still hard to solo so not a lot of people have it. I wouldn’t care one bit if they suddenly made it faceroll and gave it a 10% dropchance (aka free).
Speak for yourself, your view on things is personal, no matter how invested you are in a topic.
Yes but that’s real life and this is a programmable game where the devs decided to delete stuff and now regret. I get it with mounts like gladiator stuff that truly show off skill, but T3 was never meant as a badge of prestige.
Back in the day nobody played naxx (less than 5% of the playerbase) because they were all waiting for TBC and cba after the grindfest that was AQ40. It was never meant as a limited commodity and only became as such when they introduced transmog. So many people had deleted their precious T3 sets by then.
And I stand by my earlier point: flexing and gatekeeping pixels in a game is just bad taste. A vintage car where only 500 were made or some pixel clothes for a videogame are not really comparable imo.
It doesnt really matter if its real life stuff or digital stuff, Im talking about principle and principle itself is very same in both cases, dont you see it? For example bitcoin is also just virtual thing, does it mean according to you it doesnt have any value at all then if its just digital stuff?
