I spotted a few things I know are wrong on a very cursory glance, but since it reads like an IC document, that’s easily excusable as a mistake on the author’s part. Characters don’t need to have access to wowpedia IC.
yeah true but it’s also awkward if you don’t know what is wrong and then use that as actual fact but it’s wrong lol
Guess you will still have to google to fact check if it will actually give the effect u want IC no matter what is written
True. The mistake that I spotted first was on Grave Moss. It makes the mistake of associating shadow = necromancy, even though that isn’t true (though it’s perfectly fine for the author to not know the difference if shadow magic isn’t their field of study). There’s no lore on Grave Moss other than the potions it’s used for so the usage listed is accurate. But the actual flavour text written sounds more like Gravebloom in BFA since we have an actual quest text describing its properties.

But it’s still a very nice guide to give flavour to alchemy RP. I especially like the dosage thing.
Ah fair enough. Also that sounds to be bit out dated knowledge from back when necromancy was basically shadow stuff. The old days…
Funny enough also fits my character as he thinks that death magic is still also just shadow magic but a different kind. Neat
That’s why I really don’t have that big of an issue with it because realistically some characters just don’t know the difference and it reads like an IC document. Sometimes the mistakes make it feel more realistic like a real person with their own beliefs actually wrote it in-universe. Some of my characters don’t know the difference either and just lump different dark magics together.
I feel like it would be a thin line between RP-ing normally and having a potion for anything
It can work, just be careful to not end up as that guy who has an answer to everything
Other then that what Kump said, there are a lot of existing items in the game, no need to reinvent the wheel
If you can RP gathering the herbs I don’t mind if they RP there is selution for almost anything with potions. Just as long as it’s not RPed you always carrying the selution on you I think
Shut up, and take my money! *Holds up a coin purse*
I don’t have any new potions to add, but it may be fun to think about what happens when you drink multiple potions. Do the effects stack? Could they interact in unexpected ways, or have horrible side effects?
Everytime I tried to RP an alchemist or something similar people basicly ignored the potions existance mostly because “real healers” (lol) can regrow legs and arms with a fingersnap (oversaturated, but you get the gest…)
In many RP groups there are people dedicated to healing, curing diseases or crafting bombs. Mages seem to have infinite mana or rarely seem to be unable to cast a spell.
RP groups that make use of an alchemist are just super rare.
One of my characters recently drank a healing potion, a sleeping potion, and a mind-soothing potion all at once. It caused chaos.
The healing potion overcharged and instahealed some injuries, the sleeping potion reversed and made her unable to sleep at all until it was cleansed, and the mind-soothing potion just fizzled out effectlessly.
Basicly you can have almost any magical effect as a potion and it’s usefulness depends on what the user is doing and what he can or cannot do by himself.
I’m not going to list potions as there has already been good amount of them in this thread already
As someone with < Potion Seller > In my title I find surprisingly few people are interested in actually wanting to invest in alchemy as a thing to roleplay outside of the meme factor.
I even wrote a very big flavour guide on all manner of herbs we have in Azeroth and beyond based on the types of effects the potions they are put into.
You got a link for that?
But yeah there’s a reason nobody rp’s an artisan :
Nobody cares about them.
It’s RP you can pop whatever you want from your butt at any moment : there’s no need to find an elusive roleplayer for it. Hence why said artisans get bored due to lack of potential interactions and give up.
Please no futa potions. Anything but that.
I’d sometimes accept a love potion for the heck of it, if it’s not a permanent affect, but the former one is way too often mentioned and used.
Sounds like you need to either stop hanging out in the ERP hotspots or you need a new circle of “friends”
Nah, just needed to get away from Stormwind.
Haven’t heard any of that since I’m not regularly RPing there.
EDIT: Wait, is SW an eRP hotspot now? If so, then you’re entirely correct.

eww
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
My poor mage-smith has definitely noticed this. I expected that fancy magic items are in huge demand but no.
But I am not giving up. I got plans.
