I have been wondering this for years now and i just do not get it…
Why!? is the shield as a shadow priest “light” ??? we ahve glyphs to extend shadowform to mounts, but no glyph or just baseline “Shadow” shield … makes no sence at all
Laziness most likely. Ive suggested it before. They updated all mages shields so why not spriest.

Its not light
Because when I get kicked in pvp I’d like to still be able to cast at least something.
I remember when shadow had a full suite of holy spells, they just couldn’t be casted in shadow form, and frankly I want all of them back, not to lose the few non shadow spells I still have left.
Not to mention that, as geist said, power word shield isn’t really a light based spell, it shares more in common with power infusion and dispel magic.

The talent that refills your absorb via shadow damage done should be baseline.
That’s Void Shield, and I’ve been thinking about such a shield as a replacer (even if talented) for Shadow.
What it does is providing 50% more absorption over the regular PWS. However, it also places a heal absorption equal to 25% of the damage absorption. Say, baseline shield is 8k. This would be 12k + 3k heal absorption (effective 9k but you can more or less negate with your leeches).
So works similar to Shadowmend, it’s powerful but comes at a cost. 
Honestly i wish they would just make a pure dps spec with light… so we wouldent have to run around like a purple fart that cant see our own xmog…
Such a shame that all the cool appreances for priest are ruined by shadowform.
and No Disc is not what i mean… or close to anything like a real dps
