If you got max rank of new naxx trincket (+25% dmg per each “sanctified” piece) it just makes all pre-naxx armor useless. That’s not what classic about. I liked gear system in classic, because compared to other addons, in many situations it’s good to have gear from multiple sources, not just from the last raid - no this stupid ilvl scaling as in next addons (more ilvl = better). With this naxx mechanic, you ruining this aspect, because naxx gear >>> anything other, because you get +25% dmg for each piece, and even if this piece is zero good stats for your spec, it’s still better then anything else from other raids just because 25% bonus for 1 gear slot is very big. (almost) all gear from previous raids = USELESS in naxx.
I dont mind the mechanic, or the fact that it will replace everything else.
What annoys me is that some set bonuses give dmg only vs Undead. Where as Sanctified gear gives dmg against everything in Naxx.
So unless your 6-8 tier items are bis on their own, you will need to have additional items for the Spider Wings to max parse.
So, everyone gets a 200% damage boost?
Amazing!
This means Naxx will be insanely hard or that we will need more time to get to the boss than taking it down.
Also, there will be huge issues, depending on the amount of gear you get. If a boss drops 3 pieces, this means we will get 45 pieces per raid. If the final boss of eachw ing drops an additiona piece, this gets us to 50 pieces per raid, around 2 pieces per player, supposing we have a 25 player raid.
If we gear tanks we will lack dps, if we gear dps, tanks won’t be able to keep up in aggro.
Everything seems so rushed about this P7… And the tier bonuses are either insanely good (warriors get +25% damage from their 6pc bonus) or useless (Paladins get reduced cooldown and cast time on a spell they never use becasie it costs 65% of their mana pool and mostly 50 flat damage from their 6 piece bonus).
They have to rethink some things if not alot.
I think what it means is that each level of difficulty in Naxx is going to increase massively. Think like rifts in Diablo, where every 5 rifts has double the stats of the previous. So Naxx10 will probably be around 4-5x health and damage values of Naxx1.
And also it means if you are returning player, or just skip some lockouts, you will be useless in this raids. For now we dont know the mechanic of this trincket upgrade ofc, but we already know that every piece of sanctified gear will be extreme upgrade, and if r10 trinck can be done for 1 week (if it will be just about time of some grind), then if u skip 2 lockouts and every other person in raid will have 3-4 sanct. pieces while u have 0, u will deal twice less damage then anyone else xD I dont think that its a good design. It will split people even within 1 guild too much. And it will be just terrible for new/returning players or twinks
But ofc we will see. It’s a crazy Blizzard experiment…
I’ve been eyeing a lot of the different class discords and the general consensus is that this concept sucks and everyone pretty much hates it.
The reasons:
- No one want the class balance to this off, currently Ret Paladins are simming 25/30k DPS while Mages are simming 120k DPS.
- No one want mandatory weekly stuff and mandatory raids. You have to do enough of the weekly events to upgrade your trinket + weekly Naxx reset. If you miss a week you are now behind, feels bad, people will quit.
- No one wants all your power tied to specific enemy type or specific locations, we want that power to translate everywhere in the game.
- It removes the vanilla experience of old content being useful. DPS in raids is now based entirely on your trinket and Naxx gear, no need to farm t2/t2.5, just go into Naxx in quest green because you are just as useful as anyone else without Naxx gear.
- Luck is now everything, if you dont get the gear drops you need, or you loose the rolls, instead of being like “damn, hopefully I get lucky next week”, now you are like “Oh great, now I;m completely useless next week, and I am a week behind, even if I get 1 or 2 bits next week, other people will be up to 4 or 5 or 6”
- The power scale breaks classes. For example, warriors can now stack haste, and get haste proc weapons from MC or Kazzak, then just spam execute at 100 rage because every off-hand hit will generate 100 rage. Why bother with rotation when you can hit 1 button, who cares about fun class mechanics right?
Nothing about this appeals to the classic/vanilla player base, in fact most of this is the reason we play vanilla versions of the game and not retail. I don’t think I’ve seen another example of game designers being so blind to their community.
But as always, a very loud minority will scream in their defence and they will use that like a shield to defend their ideas and rely on many players being stuck behind the Sunken Cost Fallacy and will begrudgingly play through it as to not feel like the past year of SoD was a waste of time and then they will use that analytic to fuel their own egos.
Looking at the stat changes on the Naxx loot leaves a bad taste…
Removing stamina on items, making every item from the previous raids instantly obsolete thanks to the Sanctified and introducing an un-fun mandatory chore in the upgrading of the trinkets that enable Sanctified(also if you wear that trinket, which you must more or less now, you have only one trinket from now on for Naxx, thanks, very nice)
How, HOW is this any better than what we had in classic? Who asked for this ridiculous stuff? Who thought this is good?
I swear this feels like the old D3 set items buffing abilities by 1500% or other such , forcing you into some narrow niches and taking so much freedom away from building a reasonably competitive character while not following the meta to the letter.
The naxx patch is shaping up in such a disappointing way. Speaking as someone that has been on board with SoD from day 1, P1. I swear even the low level raids felt better than what is ahead of us now.
They definitely need to put a limit on the max trinket buff stack. Something like 4.
Totally agree.
Also it’s one of the most egregious cases of borrowed power. I do not like it when my power is only present in a specific raid. I want my character to become objectively more powerful, but with a system like this I lose all my strength if I do anything except Naxx, be it older raids or future content
My pvp soul is really enjoying that, would mean pve heroes cant go bgs and stomp pvp rank 14 ppl with their pve gear
Yeah its wierd how they have been planning this phase…
Okay, they’ve done set bonuses that are disabled in battle grounds or against other players a few times before in WoW. Just do that instead?
Comon… this is SoD. We know they would let the phase play out for months before that would happen, would be to late
what annoys me is only certain spec seems to massively benefit from the tier set bonuses yet again. yet again being pushed top play affliction even though id rather play destro as a firelock. set bonuses for locks are great. problem is. not if your using reck as a player to put MoC up. yet again a massive failure to see that not every single player wants to play specs like affliction.
Nice balance. Mages doing 4-5 times the dps of a Paladin.
WHere can I get my hands on some sims?
and the best thing. its considered acceptable. its laughable at best.
