Poxstorm weapon/Havoc

Why is this sword, seeminly, so sought after by DHs ?

I got a 236 one on my DH alt and anytime I check details after a fight, it rarely does more than 2-3% of my overall damage.
My tormented rack trinket from SoD for example was doing twice as much, if not, slightly more.

…am I thinking of it as something more powerful than it really is, and it’s just a nice passive damage boost ontop of having stats like a normal weapon ?

It just feels really anticlimactic if I’m honest :no_mouth:

Iirc it works the same way as the tusks from underrot, slappers from nya’lotha and now the cruciform veinripper from sod: the proc rate is affected by our haste and if you get 2 of them, the dmg effect stacks.
Other than what Isaid above, like you said, it’s free dmg and it also happens to have stats on it too, unlike the veinripper.

Thanks.

Yeah maybe I was bigging it up too much in my own head tbh, still a nice weapon.
I see you have double Veinrippers, are they strong ? Ideally want one for my other weapon on my DH and at least one on my Enh Shaman if I can.

Well if I go by my own weapons I got the 239 heroic version + two other weapons with haste/versa at 239. 3% overall damage if I put on the weapons with secondary stats instead of the proc one I get 1.1% haste and 0.8%+ damage from the versa all in all that won’t increase my damage by 3%.

So yes even if its just 3% its still better than maybe the 1.5% you get from the secondary stats you get instead.

And people always minmax, I mean if one weapon gives you 900 dps and one gives you 1k which one would you rather have? Of course you want the one that gives you the most damage and in this case its the proc one.

Or to give you a trinket comparrison since your aware of your Tormented Rack, the stat weapon vs the proc weapon is like Tormented Rack vs Phial of Purefaction if we go by numbers.

If you settle for 2nd best in every slot because 2-3% isnt that big a deal you end up very far behind once your at the finish line.

Excuse me I just realized I was talking about another weapon all together  that proc weapon even have stats so its a no brainer even at just 2% it still get stats like other weapons so its still a 2% dmg increase

No worries

Thanks for the advice!

Yea veinrippers are stupidly op, had fights where they did more than 8% of my dmg. If you can position yourself properly in order to make the weps proc, veinripper is nuts.

Done Painsmith on my DH, bubbling pox done 18k damage overall and on details, the icon for the pox damage says “attacks have a high chance to apply bubbling pox, dealing 44 nature damage over 6 seconds”

44 damage… over 6 seconds ? lol that doesn’t seem right at all.
My lightless force weapon enchant for mythic plus done almost twice as much dmg lol.

Something seems off with this weapon big time, or am I missing something glaringly obvious here  ?

Doesn’t it stack?

Dropped a 2nd one tonight.

With one equipped the dot does 116 dmg every X seconds.
With both equipped the dot does 115 dmg every X seconds.

Which is probably still more than a regular weapon. What other reason do you need?

Got a veinripper in my vault today so it doesn’t matter much anymore I suppose, least as far as I am concerned.

Just seemed very anti-climatic of a weapon, again, I think I was giving it too much credit and bigging it up in my own head too much.

For raid, you can go with double veinrippers and for m+, double poxstorm, onfe you have them. Veinripper is for st, poxstorm for aoe
