Prepatch AV Weekend

So, the AV weekend is upon us, and the opportunity to obtain some gear to level with or cap honour before TBC launches at a reasonable rate is now possible.

Could my fellow horde players please engage their brain and realise the fastest and most reliable way to grind this honour out is to rush Ballinda then Vanndar and cap towers instead of attempting a turtle/recap tactic which results in a long loss for us? It’s awful finishing a game with <200 bonus honour because people still think the scorched earth turtling is still a reliable tactic. If you rush the bosses and towers you are guaranteed 500~ honour in less than 10 minutes and the win/loss is a coin toss.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

AV que is 30 minutes; I want to enjoy some pvp. If I was alliance, sure…

No thanks. I rather defend so I get to pvp, instead of standing afk in a tower up north.

Yep; the Rush tactic does not work for horde because the timers are unfair. I always stay south with my premade friends.

You want to enjoy some PvP… so you play AV? Hilarious.

Agreed if purely to grind honor
It’s the best homer/hour ratio
But half the people want other things

Is it live now or what are the timers for weekend bgs events?

When you are in a 30 min queue it doesnt matter that much if the game is 10 min or 25 min. When some horde are defending they have a much better chance to win. You cant really complain about queue in AV if your running this tac though, because it discourages alliance to go av since honor gain there sucks for us now.

Except the 5 games I won last night were in <8 minutes through rushing. Just leave a small 5 man group behind to retake IBT and TP while the rest go north. It delays the Alliance enough with just one retake that they have to wait for war masters to despawn. Also the win/loss is irrelevant, you will still get approx 500~ in a fast loss with Ballinda/towers down.

Lol. tbh I hope you guys suffer long losses - youve had free av wins for 2 years.

Allies have way better zugzug map layout. Horde has to seriously outgear or outskill to win with rush tax. Longer games give horde better average winrate.

LOL that’s gotta be a bait. If not - look at the map. please. LOL

Horde towers are faster to cap, no need to hassle with archers.
Allies tower archers are annoying and time consuming for rush solo tower caps

Rush to horde base has 1 small chokepoint and 1 choke inside base with short ramp.
Rush to allies base has narrow mountain road from IWB to the bridge filled with NPCs that charge and have 50% daze. Also the bridge itself is such a good choke, few def allies can hold and delay alot bigger force.

Inside the base. Horde last flag has 4 guards. Allies last flag has 4 guards + buttload of NPCs, vendors and god knows what near it that get aggrod 95% of the time.
In horde base flag fight is between def horde and off allies on open field pvp. While in allies base flag its a pvp fight inside the allies city with all the extra NPCs.

If all the NPCs would be removed, then yes Horde would have map advantage.

i didnt seen turtle games for last week.

Firstly, incorrect - the path is not only blocked from LoS but its longer to get up a horde tower.

As if horde arechers arent directly facing the flag cap point. You cant cap until atleast the 1 archer is dead.

Rush to horde base has 4 choke points. Alliance has 2.

I alliance gys are against a backwall with no way out except through the horde.

The horde have npcs and vendors that can daze you infront of towers.

The alliance cant enter the boss room without agroing, the horde can.

The map is historically favoured to horde - You’ve also had free wins for nearly 2 years so please sit down and shut up. You’re completely wrong on all of your points. Matter of fact you’re so wrong to the point of me actually calling you bad at the game.

Not to mention the horde can still backdoor and skip everything you forementioned. your GY’s are directly against a choke point for alliance. your towers actually cover choke points.

Like I’m getting triggered just thinking about how stupid your post is.

If you are right. For whole Classic, why horde playd AV defensively and not rushing? Even before the que times went up.

I think its only Russians who turtle.

I am not talking about turtling. I am talking about defensive playstyle like horde mostly does. Splitting forces - sniping flags and towers at the north and other group engaging allies on the middle field east/west and after than initial engagement falling slowly back to south and delaying allies push. At some point after north group getting some ground, people from defence start to migrate to north.

There seemed to be 3 most used meta in Classic AV.
Full turtle - mostly russians
Def/off group split - horde gameplay
Zugzug - allies tax Drek or Kek

1st week of AV launch horde used to zugzug vs allies zugzug and lost 80-90% of games. Even with the north backdoor walljumps. For horde it took 1 week to figure out the delay gameplay. Games over 30min were 90%+ horde wins.

That’s just horde being used to their incredible advantage of free wins and total map advantage from day 1 of classic.

But horde lost on the day 1 due to only knowing zugzug vs allies zugzug.
Took 1 week in eu servers to figure out delay gameplay vs allies zugzug.

Zugzug vs zugzug is all about map layout. There was clear reason why horde transitioned away from zugzug after 1st week.
