Hello! New brewmaster player here. Would like to give some feedback on the talent Press the Advantage after experimenting with it for a while.
I like the idea a lot and it’s fun to use in a high haste build. I’ve been trying it with High Tolerance and the extra haste from Shado-Pan which creates a nice small burst with the double keg smash.
This is not very optimal though in single target since Flurry Strikes triggers with energy spent, which is difficult since Tiger Palm is replaced, and it’s not very optimal in AoE either since Crane Kick cancels autoattacks.
I do think that Press the Advantage playstyle can potentially be a very fun playstyle but it needs optimization to be viable. Here are some suggestions I would like to propose:
-
Increase the damage of Press the Advantage and have it consume energy on every auto attack. Essentially it should consume energy so that it works as a toggle giving you a smaller energy pool. This would also give it the ability to work with Shado Pan in single target by adding towards the Flurry Strikes trigger.
-
The talent that reduces cooldown for Weapons of Order in the Shado Pan hero talent tree needs an equivalent for Press the Advantage. In my opinion this should be a large damage increase for Chi Surge when triggered using Press the Advantage. Another way to solve it could be that the damage increase per auto attack is doubled, so that 10 stacks = 20% damage.

Auto attacks either need to trigger while Crane Kick is active or Crane Kick needs to be the spell replaced. Another way to solve this would be for Crane Kick to just simply give a stack of Press the Advantage when pressed.
As a new player, the brewmaster playstyle is very hectic and cutting Tiger Palm out of the rotation has been welcome to learn the spec. However, I understand why it doesn’t see any play. There are simply too many small issues that add up.
I do think that if these are solved though, Press the Advantage can see some proper play.
The most urgent, in my opinion, is adding some energy cost to it so it becomes a viable pick with Shado Pan. Thanks for reading!
