I think these mounts are fun, and a good idea for a nice, semi-useful reward. This saves me from trying to get some nice mount to replace the boring ‘default horse’.
However, it seems a bit lackluster - as if they came up with a design of one mount, and then lost all interest and quit the company.
Why are all the mounts the same, except -slight- color variation? Ivory one is the most different, everything else is SO subtly different, it’s easy to even confuse them. Bronze looks like Midnight for some reason, unless you put them side by side.
Here are some of my ideas how this COULD have been done, and in my opinion, maybe SHOULD have been done, and AT THE VERY LEAST, would have been very logical to expect them to be.
- Every mount would look unique
- Mounts would be very COLORFUL instead of dull non-colors (Ivory is the only ‘bright’ one)
- The higher-level mount, the more ‘special’ it would be. Different ‘specialities’ could include ‘transparent’ mount, ‘glowing’ mount, ‘color-cycling’ mount, ‘FLYING’ mount, etc.
First few mounts would be ground mounts, but the rest would be flying ones. Or at least anything over 200 honor level would be flying.
There could be so many nice, unique flying mounts, like ‘Dark Phoenix’, but more transparent, more glowing, slightly smaller (so it’s more compact), glowing, ‘ghost raptor’-like, etc. There could be different color variations, from blue, yellow, green, purple, pink, etc. depending on the honor level.
There could be more of these mounts, as in… 300 honor level SHOULD give a much bigger reward than it does. A title? Come on! That’s just a couple of words. When a player dedicates so much time to PvPing and working very hard, and this can take friggin’ YEARS (for me, at least, it has), when they finally reach 300, they should be TRULY REWARDED with SOMETHING SPECIAL.
At least give another boring courser that’s identical to all others.
Come on, couldn’t you -at-the-very-least- have colored the mounts properly differently, and made them more and more ‘magical’-looking the higher the level? Or have SOME kind of satisfying visual ‘progression’? As it is now, you can’t immediately tell visually, without experience, which mount is the higher level, and which isn’t.
This game has SO many things that sparkle, glitter, and it even has some pink stuff, like that ‘elegant dress’ from the easter egg hunt. This could all have been used with the mounts - use bright colors and imagination! Make a living rainbow or something!
Have a proper brainstorming and FIX this monotony of the dull rewards for hard work - give us something DELIGHTFUL, even psychedelic, if need be! BE BRAVE! Live a little!
Anyway, the mounts could be so nice, if there were way more of them (how about every 25 or every 50 honor levels? It’s hard work leveling that up!), and that would allow there to be many, many different mounts - I wouldn’t mind seeing two dozen or so.
Maybe the ‘anime mount’ was planned for this, but then some MARKETING a-hole came inbetween and said, “Hey, we can SELL that mount and make MONEY - give the prestige mounts just one design with slightly varying color so we don’t have to design more mounts for free”.
And that was the moment blizzard sold its soul to the gods of mammon.
But you could let players design the mount, have a contest, the reward would be that you would make that mount. Heck, let players do all the work, I am sure they’d love to participate. They’d work for peanuts or for free…
(Well, maybe this is taking it too far, but SOMEONE has to have the guts to take things too far, blizz sure planted itself SECURELY in the ‘comfort zone’ and stopped taking risks a long time ago, but that makes things STAGNANT - take a risk and make some better mounts, I am sure your players will love you for it)
And while you are at it, FIX the g-dmn BG balance, class balance, faction balance, and let ally have a fighting chance in BGs! And make BG rewards GOOD!
