Previous expansion professions question

Everyone is talking about how amazing crafting will be in Dragonflight.

But nobody is asking what will happen to old expansion professions.

Will there be any decent support/cleanup for older professions?

Will there ever be any more point to level them, other than transmogs (create older crafting submaterials for newer items).

Will there be an update to older profession skills UI to at least show the progress bar that you most recently levelled up as the default option on the K menu? It bugs me to hell that i’m working on my 1-300 while having learned Legion X, and bar shows 1/75, have to open up ‘profession skills’ to check progress.

Any other question you have about older professions, please post it here, I cannot be the only profession completionist (at least as a bucket list)/alt enjoyer.

I think this is just a DF and future expansion thing for now, I’ve heard nothing about revamping old professions to be like the DF ones.

No and again no it isnt relevant in DF tbh and wait there will be negative posts from people on the new proffession system, yes it is great but its a major grindfest to actually have something good crafted. I like it alot but people are lazy and want easy epix.

Actually, I think more MEANINGFUL grind is welcome. It used to be a grind to go from 1 in a profession all the way through old expansions to be able to train in a profession in the current expansion. I am not suggesting this should return - people would riot and burn blizzard HQ down if that happened - but training older professions now seems a bit TOO hollow and pointless. I’d love for it to change somehow. Perhaps since nobody cares about old professions anymore, they could just make training it take longer and harder (more expensive) so that finally achieving full bars in all older expansions felt better? I don’t know, that’s why im asking to see what others feel like.

Currently on beta I feel like it is TOO grindy tho…
Hardly get enough mats to even get anything made with enchanting.

Only two things that really should be done.

  1. Mahusive Resource Bank Storage. The current resource tab is way too small (especially since Mechagon Island and Zereth Mortis materials are so plentiful). A Guild version also could be a good idea.
  2. Old recipes on any Quartermaster should be Account Bound. I’m not farming old reps (that I’ve already grinded out) just for some recipes that are only for completionism sake or maybe for a transmog.

Assumedly no.

For players only playing the newest expansion - no, there are no reason for them to level legacy professions. However, completionists, collectors, legacy crafters and twinks have all the reasons in the world to level them, either fully or up to where they need for the respective professions.

Assumedly no, but I really wish we could pick which learned expansion profession progression to show on that bar. Not fun staring at Cataclysm [profession] 1/75 when learning that by accident while focusing on vanilla professions.

Very big agree here. I think not being able to select which ‘bar’ is shown in the old professions UI is my biggest problem with it. I always end up having Cata prof 1/75 on my K page (without opening specific profession skills window) while i’m working on classic 300…
