Why is the wow token barely 20000 gold? Nobody is paying 20€ for that! Some items in Mop GDKPs will go for several hundreds of thousand of gold and althru you get insane cuts from 50-100k from being in a gdkp, you need alot of gold to enter one as a new player. Id love to get around 2-300k to start with. Could blizzard have a package deal where you can buy alot of gold at the same time instead of individual tokens?
At this point, why don’t you ask Blizzard for a package with directly all the BiS gearset for the class you want? If you care so much buy the gear directly why waste time

Why do you need to enter these as a new player? Just join a guild and do it for free.

You might be better off at the beginning of the expansion.
Probably the target demographic shifted. We can earn 20€ (12€ actually) much quicker than 20k gold. You can observe it in retail, too - the token price is fairly static for 10+ years, despite in-game inflation. There also used to be an America-Europe difference.
However this also means that you could play the game and earn the gold as well.
That just creates further inflation.
The bottleneck is the drop count / rate. The server and thus population gets a certain number of items a week, and this is an auction.
Instead of stressing too much about not being top 0.1%, you should combat the root of your FOMO. Organize raids without BiS or consumable requirements. Organize GDKP runs without entry fee. File legal reports if you get harassed about it. Make a legal case and file cease and desist against public performance repositories and private data gathering options, also forcing Blizzard to remove combat log. Stuff like that.
Set goals for yourself that you can achieve. I’d love to raid but I don’t put in the effort, so I enjoy the game differently.
