Priest needs a change from the bottom up

As the title says, priest as a whole needs a change from the bottom and needs to be equal in utility and healing as the other healers. At least be comparable to a shaman.

This will be unpopular but Disc and holy just need to be one spec, which will fix almost all their utility queries. It will have a Raid heal and a group shield and single target dmg reduction.

They also need a CC break, Fear ward like they used. Please also give them an extra debut to dispel, preferably curses, because that isn’t a combo yet along side disease. A Rage dispell would be great too! if I’m asking anyway. Priest handle psychic stuff and rage is pretty much an emotional state.

Our crit heals should leave a shield and the only the only heal over time should come from renew., with possibly a few stacks.

Penance needs to stay !!!

And please for the all that is holy, to be just as comparable to other healers, give them a battle rezz and an optional interrupt. Stop giving everything to paladin. Priest isn’t just baby’s first healer. There’s a reason why it’s looked down upon by the community. They have nothing interesting and useful anymore. It’s all gone or handed out to the other healers.

Please do something about Shackle Undead. the spell’s useful every other two expansions, ie. useless. Just call it shackle and be a single target bind, the undead part is just annoying and pointless.

Isn’t the mindset when it comes to defensives either health, personal defensives or movement. Priest has none of these. Personally I would like a personal damage reduction, but I understand with Pw:shield that may be too much, but then at least give PW:shield a big health pool when cast on ourself and make the debuff weakened soul a minute long.

This one is personal, but please give priest an updated animation for smite like Paladin’s removed Denounce. I’ve always loved that spell and it’s been unused since forever. This will Priest at least somewhat neat to look at. Smite and SW:pain are such non-existent spells, it makes priest boring to look at. Why does Paladin get all the flashy spells? Also why is it called smite? DnD smite is for paladins.

Now that I’m on about animation, Light elemental should be a Valkyr or the likes, just something that screams Spirit guardian that means to end you if you walk near it.

Discipline spec is literally meta in M+. Holy is meta in PvP.

Like Greater Fade and Shadow Word: Death?

This is more about the design of dungeons / raids than anything. S1 had lots of poisons and curses which was a massive issue for Priest’s utility. S2 is a lot better in this regard.

Like the Divine Aegis talent of the Discipline spec?

One thing that would make Empowered Renew a lot better is turning it into its own HoT that wouldn’t clash with the passively applied Renews from Lightwell, Lasting Words and Benediction.

The only spec that might be looked down upon is Shadow (but I don’t play it at all so this is just hearsay). Disc and Holy are meta specs in their respective fields.

  • Power Infusion is a massive reason for bringing a priest to your group.
  • Mind Sooth allows skips for special routes in dungeons. The only equivalent of this is Rogue’s AoE stealth.
  • The Double Life Grip talent from the Oracle hero spec has been used in the MDI for even more unusual skips.
  • Mass Dispel is also a unique tool for dealing with the frequent magical debuffs we deal with this season.

I’ve been saying for a long time that it should be a baseline ability. Its use is too niche to make it worth being a talent.

  • Desperate Prayer grants bonus health.
  • Protective Light paired with Binding Heals grant near constant 10% dmg reduction at least as Holy.
  • Translucent Image gives Fade 10% dmg reduction.
  • Angelic Bulwark grants a shield when you drop below 30% health.
  • Guardian Spirit grants cheat death.
  • Pain Suppression is a single target dmg reduction.
  • Power Word: Barrier is an AoE dmg reduction.

Smite has been called Smite since Vanilla.

Overall,

Disc is very much ok.

What would help Holy in M+ is a functional spammable-ish AoE heal. They tried to use Emp. Renew and Divine Star to greatly reduce CD of Sanctify with the rework however these two spells are empty GCDs that cannot be used in high intensity encounters where we need the reduction the most. We need something different.

Don’t know anything about Shadow.

This has to be rage bait with so many weird/wrong statements that Jdouco already corrected. As Jdouci said, Disc is meta in M+, Holy in PvP and both specs are good in raid (with Disc being nearly broken early on). In addition, MC and Mind Sooth are some of the best utility spells in M+
One thing I could get behind: Make Shackle Undead baseline and change the talent to make it an instant cast or an aoe cast (equal to Paladins). Shackle Undead feels really bad to pick since you barely have enough points for it.

Guild name checks out.

My 2 cents – from a loyal Holy Priest who just wants a key :broken_heart:

Hey Blizzard-Team & fellow priests,

I’ve been playing Holy since Vanilla. I’ve seen it all – the Light, the nerfs, the “oops, wrong button” moments, and the occasional glimpse of being meta. But here we are, in The War Within Season 2 – and honestly?

:bulb: We heal fine. We look fine. We feel fine.
But we’re not getting invited.

:dart: The sad +14 reality
This season, trying to push above +14 as Holy feels like trying to walk through a locked dungeon door with a very polite knock.

Yes, I hit 3k RIO. But let’s be real:

  • Most groups only invited me because no one else could be found.
  • I had to make my own groups, beg friends, or hope someone misclicked in LFG.
  • And then? Getting uninvited or silently kicked once they realized I wasn’t Disc – even without a word, even after waiting patiently in the queue.

It’s demoralizing.
Not because Holy is weak.
But because we’re invisible in the meta.

:balance_scale: What’s the issue?
It’s not healing.
It’s not skill.
It’s not gear.

It’s that in the current M+ design, Holy brings the least amount of “why pick this healer?”

We’ve come a long way since TBC, no doubt – we’ve got amazing AoE healing, strong Holy Words, and elegant cooldowns.
But when it comes to utility, damage, or spicy group-saving plays, we just don’t excite group leaders.

Other healers bring:

  • Battle Rez
  • Lust
  • External defensives
  • Stuns, interrupts, damage buffs
  • And DPS. Lots of it.

What do we bring?

  • A warm smile
  • A Mass Dispel that’s amazing (but only when the dungeon says yes)
  • Hymns that are lovely (but can’t be channeled mid-chaos)
  • And yes – technically – Shackle Undead, but only if you spend talent points you already can’t spare

Which brings me to a great suggestion I saw in another thread:
Make Shackle Undead baseline, and turn the talent into something meaningful – like instant cast or AoE, just like Paladins get with Turn Evil.
Right now it’s clunky, and picking it almost feels like penance.

:sparkles: What would help?
Honestly? Even just one or two compelling reasons to bring a Holy Priest would go a long way.
We don’t need to be broken or top DPS – we just want to be viable without begging.

I’ll keep casting Serenity with love :sparkling_heart:
I’ll keep shielding my DPS as they stand in fire :fire_extinguisher:
But please… just toss us a utility bone?

Sincerely (and slightly sparkly),
Eloyranna – still Holy after all these years :dove::speech_balloon::sparkles:

I expected fat ability buffs or reworks to holy in 11.2 to bring disc’s and holy’s power more together in m+ in S3 or, depending on the situation, even giving holy an edge over disc. So far so disappointing.

I as a shadow agree with this, it’s a wasted talent. I would love to see it replaced by a 5% secondary stat buff, as it’s placed in a prime location where all 3 specs have a chance to benefit from it

their take to reworks is half poorly implanted reworks.
