Do we have any information on how the Earthen-Ring interacts with the new Primalists causing havoc across the Dragon Isles (And beyond)? I’ve ran through the quests and not found a whole lot!
If not how do you think your character would react to them?
They’re obviously a twilight’s hammer style threat to the world and something to be aggressively opposed. Collapsing the land into elemental chaos is an obvious violation of the harmony that makes up the living world.
Most likely that the Earthern Ring is against the Primalists, as the Primalists are following a different path.
We’ve not heard from a direct lore source, but we can guess that the Earthen Ring is very much against the Primalists for many reasons, including:
·The fact that unlike shamans, they don’t commune with the spirits and just seek to use the elements to cause havoc and destruction. Something which people forget is that shamans aren’t [element]-benders from Avatar, and that they still seek to strike a balance between the elements, the spirits and mortals to prevent exactly what the Primalists are trying to achieve. (An example of something like this happening and the Earthen Ring fighting against the elements themselves can be seen in the storyline of the Firelands patch of 4.1.)
·The fact that they are trying to wipe Azeroth off of the titan’s influence while Azeroth itself is… You know, a titan. And while some people could go “ah, but not everyone has to know about this fact”, the Earthen Ring was one of the two factions helping Magni heal Azeroth’s wounds right in front of its heart vault. Hell, there is an entire plot point about how the Horde’s shamans and druids were sent down to Silithus to heal the wound and that’s why they didn’t stop Teldrassil’s scorching right on the spot.
And many, many other things.
tl;dr: they’re trying to destroy the world and titan-stuff when the earthen ring is very well aware that azeroth is a titan by now + they’d like to not have azeroth look like someone dropped a garry’s mod nuke on it
As my friendly ally here said, the Primalists worship elementals directly—whereas the average shaman worships their ancestors and keeps the elements in balance.
Primalists =/= shamans.
Primalists = hardcore elementalists.
The Earthen Ring is represented in the Waking Shore, against the Primalists.
The Earthen Ring work to maintain the balance that the Primalists plan on breaking. It would be cool to see more direct story relating to their relationship, though.

I believe there is a quest involving an Earthern ring shaman just outside the Obsidian Citadel - strangely enough, she has you killing elementals for their items.
I think one of the explanations for where all the Primalists came from is that a lot of Earthen Ring defected to them personally.

There’s an Earthen Ring shaman in Dragonscale Basecamp, hanging out with a friendly earth elemental. Don’t know what they’re doing, aside the rock climbing world quests, but they at least appear to be aligned with the expedition.
Also a draenei shaman near the Obsidian Citadel with earth elementals fighting off the fire elementals attacking. Since she gives you items to help fight the djaradin, who are Primalist allies, it stands to reason she’s taking a more direct approach in opposing their efforts.

By owning it, pursuing one’s dreams regardless of the adversity and living one’s best life. It may not be the prosperous or glamorous path, but this way lies contentment unimpeded by petty details.

(Given how the three most popular primalist species seem to be Draenei, night elves and Tauren there are a few paths to recruitment - the Grimtotem luring people in with their command of the elements, night elves deciding that if their world can burn down them the rest of Azeroth can too, and the Draenei deciding that the Legion was the Titans’ fault and actually we can do without those guys screw ‘em)
Speaking of which, how did all these Primalists become a thing?
