Been playing Classic for a few days and i can’t even understand how people are enjoying this. Killing 30 mobs per quest because the droprate is so slow, boring mechanics etc.
For new players retail doesn’t seem to be that bad tbh.
Things are faster and easier than before as i heard but people today also have less time to play and at the same time WoW is not getting new, younger players so Blizzard has to design the game around casuals.
Different people like different things, and so on. It’s not like it hasn’t been already explained to death in the other 1231065923 threads about the same thing, where someone comes over and doesn’t understand how players enjoy the version they don’t.
Last time I played retail, the mob health had been buffed, the heirlooms nerfed and the leveling experience was extremely slow and boring. At least in Classic, you get a talent every level and new skills every other level to break things up and get some actual progress. In retail, you don’t get any sense of progression from gear or levels. I’m not even sure what that game is trying to be anymore.
It’s kind of iffy to discuss subjective experiences.
Some hard to overlook things in retail (just like with classic). Leveling for retail for example, is completely pointless. There’s never any point where you are taught how to use your abilities in a way that teaches you about the part that matters, which is end-game. Even dungeons don’t push you, they are just sort of casual, numb experiences.
The world in World of Warcraft is pointless in retail along with its leveling experience. I don’t understand how you can argue that isn’t bad for new players. It’s literally part of the game’s title “WORLD of Warcraft”.
I really love the slow pace of Classic. I find myself getting completely absorbed in the game. When I am not playing it all I think about is how much I wish I was playing it.
Have you made any friends / in a guild in Classic? Part of the charm is you share a closed realm with a community, so be sure to enjoy the social aspects Classic has to offer, think that’s one of the big attractions over BFA with the Avengers: Infinity War end scene experience.
Note that if you’re going to try and play Classic like Retail you’re going to have an absolutely miserable time.
I don’t understand how this can be an ‘unpopular opinion’ without any data to back up. It feels like you just make this up based on your own personal feelings. Correct me if I am wrong please.
It’s only likely new players enjoy retail. Even though subs might go down (which I don’t even know is true), new players will always join the game since it is in ongoing development.
I don’t know if people have less time nowadays. It feels like this is also based on a random thought.
Well, they aren’t geared to the teeth when they start BFA are they? I’m sure leveling through Legion you aren’t going to start BFA with 970 ilvl and 2 BiS legendaries so they won’t be getting weaker.
Nice of you to focus on the only part of his post that’s been discussed 1231065924 times now and nothing else. Really.
Yes, BfA levelling sucks, everyone knows that and no one denies it. But levelling in BfA is 1% of the content, in classic levelling is the main content, you can’t compare them.
I’ve probably met more new players than most, and I can’t generalise them.
They come with all kinds of different experiences and preferences.
The only thing I know for sure is that I would not have stayed with the game, probably not even as far as 50 (in Cata), if scaling had been implemented then.
Retail is simply for mythic+ and raids. Anything else is preparation for that. The open world fun and challenge is just not there. The game is so easy that they have to time and rep gate it so it doesn’t become a total faceroll.
Simple 2 word “Attention span”
Study show that ppl attention span are less and less because their is way to much choice nowadays.
It may a long times i stopped to hump on every new “half done game” pushed with micro transaction.
Video game indutries did themselves by pushing to much into the casual world to make big $.
Now see the result with company like Acti, EA, Ubi etc
