On WoW, without addons, I get 50-30 FPS in Dornogal, and in raids, it drops to 20-11 FPS on ultra settings. If I set everything to minimum, it doesn’t change much; I get up to 50 FPS in open world and still 20-11 FPS in raids.

With addons enabled, I lose about 10 FPS.

I don’t understand why. CPU, GPU, and RAM are barely utilized at 40%-60% while playing?!

Thank you in advance for your help.

I would post this in tech support forum, rather then here.

Wow is very cpu bottlenecked these days your fps is about same as mine in dornogal and i have a 7900 XTX and a 5950X cpu.

Ignore your fps in dornogal its just a place where you go idle.

And if the server can’t handle it, your specs don’t matter.

Ah! But even if I take Dornogal as a comparison, in raids, even on 3/10 settings, I drop to 11 FPS! That’s still not normal, right?

And the fact that we hardly see any difference between low and ultra settings in terms of FPS clearly indicates an issue with underutilization.

Your FPS are rendered locally, nothing to do with the servers.
What you mean is internet latency.
Two totally different things

Utilization is normal for WoW since it’s only using one main CPU-thread and some extra for audio etc.
Modern game-engines usually use 4+ threads.

While the expected FPS for your CPU are rather low, you can see some DF dungeon FPS here:

https://www.pcgameshardware.de/World-of-Warcraft-Dragonflight-Spiel-73654/Specials/WoW-Dragonflight-Benchmarks-Anforderungen-1408516/2/

Your 10400F at max boost sould be comparable to a 8700K or maybe 9700K in this chart at the bottom.

It was an entry level CPU when it came out, now it’s lower end.

Something is definately wrong here. This is too low for your hardware.

First off, you should use settings 7 as a baseline and adjust from there.
Do not increase viewing distance and environmental detail over 7, this will hit the CPU hard in open world.

Make sure you are NOT using the renderscale option (leave it at 100% !), it is bugged and will kill performance even on high-end.

How fast is your RAM? Is it running at max speed? XMP profile loaded? Dual channel?

Is your CPU boosting to 4,2+ Ghz when WoW is running?
Temperature?

In Dornogal you should be around 40+ FPS at settings 7.
In raids it depends on the boss and especially the number of players.

30man hc for example is the worst case and even with my 5800X3D (which is almost twice as fast as your CPU) i can drop to the 30s.
20man can be 40s on bloodlust pull.

Even with the fastest gaming CPU, the 9800X3D you will have drops below 60 for short periods in 20man and more.

Also, Weakauras are usually causing the biggest FPS drops in a raid and addons that track buffs on nameplates too.

Thank you for your help, after some research I think it’s my power supply that’s holding me back, Corsair CV550. On MSI Afterburner, I have voltage limits and a bit of power issues. I ordered an 850W power supply, I’ll see if that’s the issue. I will come back here to let you know.

I don’t think it’s your PSU.
550W is enough for a 10400F and a 3060 TI.

I’m running a 4090 with a 750 Corsair

Also even if your PSU were too weak it would just simply make your PC unstable and crash, not throttle performance.

Btw, have you checked if your renderscale is set to 100%?

I don’t know about the power supply, there are indicators, and the card auto-limits itself. It’s at 98% because 100% looks a bit blurry.

That is because of the FSR sharpening.
You can get the sharpening effect without the upscaling involved.

I don’t like that over sharpened look but if you do and don’t want the performance impact, here is the console command to enable it:

/console set ResampleAlwaysSharpen 1

To turn if off again set it to 0.

You really need to set the renderscale to 100%, if you don’t believe me, compare the FPS with and without

The higher your FPS are, the more it will have an impact, for example without FPS limit at ~300 FPS in open world with my 4090, i dropped to around ~160 FPS with renderscale not at 100%.

Even 99% or 101%, does not matter, as soon as you turn on the upsampling it kills the FPS.
This bug hasn’t been fixed in like 8 months now or longer.

Oh! i have Up to 20 Fps with 100%! i try in raid Friday!

That’s good to hear, but don’t expect too much in raids

Hi! I have the same problem as you.

At first I had 10600KF and it was from 30 to 65 fps.

I changed it to 11400F and the fps problem remained.

In keys from 20 to 45 fps during battle.

I didn’t go to raids at all, but I suspect that there will be about 10 fps. After all, with 10600k it was 12-30.

I have a 550 PSU. I also have a problem with it.

If you change the PSU and it helps you, let me know!
