Problem with enemy Ring of frost visual

Okay so I’ll ask that here since I think you’re the group of people that could experience the same / know how to fix it.

I can never, legit never see a ring of frost before the mage is done casting it. So during his cast it’s impossible to see where he places it.

I asked few people about it and it seems to be a bug. However, i heard it only happens “sometimes”. Now this always happens to me so i hope to find some solution here.

Thanks in advance

There is a graphic setting that adjusts the detail of spells, have you tried raising it? If i have it on low i barely see any spells at all for example if i cast fireball i only see the ball and bot the trail of fire behind it, on fair the trail of fire is barely visible…

I would recommend having it on good/high/ultra if you can.

This may not be the solution for your probblem tho

Let me screenshot my settings really quick

Hope that helps. Ty for your input though

Maxing it all out or putting it on good + sadly doesnt really work, i really would like to have it at 120 fps +

Ngl I stopped seeing it when this patch came out thought it was just me

Set particle density to ultra hm and i think textures to high

Same I did a post last week, the animation seems to not work at all since patch.

And it’s not a computer problem because on stream we can see it.

Looks right with projected textures on. Might’ve bugged though? What’s your value for projected texures (Console variable)?

You’re talkinga bout the one in my config file ? Or which console variable do you mean, sorry kinda confused.

It’s at 1.000---- so that should be fine aswell

i see stuff like the meteor AOE, rogue posion bomb etc, it really is only ring while its being casted. That’s so weird yet it can be really gamebreaking

Hm, if you see meteor then it’s not an issue with the projected textures setting. That’s weird. Sorry, no idea then. :frowning:

Im highest frostmage world, and I can confirm that ring of frost visual is always delayed and it is not a bug. You can only see it when it is almost finished casting.
The reason why you see it faster sometimes, depends on the mage haste.
You can only see the ring around 1 second after he start casting. If he have a lot of haste and his ring is like 1.3 second cast you will not be able to see it until its finished. If he has low haste and the cast is like 2 seconds, you will see it when he is half way casting.

As a disc to counter this you want to use premenition right before cast is finished and hope the ring hits you so you get put on DR. If it does not hit you then run into the ring right after you use premenition and it should break

Same for me. The weird thing is, I can still see it sometimes but mostly not.

So they made that on purpose without pronouncing the buff? It is happening since this patch and in tournaments people still can see the ring on its position during cast! And as I have already said, I can still see it sometimes during cast.

Pretty stupid comment!

Pretty sure that I saw Raiku the last day playing Frost in 2s.

A very strong class in 2s?

This is the breakdown of classes above 2400cr in 2s atm, you can find it if you google lootdistrict wow.

Destro locks: 204
assa rogue: 150
dh: 135
ww monk: 123
Dk: 119
fire mage: 53
survival hunter: 45
feral: 37
ele shaman: 25
warrior: 25
frost mage: 6

6 frost mages above 2400cr, and you write strong spec in 2s? Its by statistics the worse in the game atm mate ^^

It is very strong, Fire Mage is just broken and even a random plep can win thanks to Greater Pyro and Combustion burst. Thats why most people are playing Fire.

Never the less, Frost Mage is very strong and the moment they would nerf Fire, everyone would play Frost but nothing would change within the ladder. Mage population would still be beyond retarded.

Okay thanks for the explanation, I gotta test it, that somewhat makes sense.

I wasn’t asking for coaching but thanks. The reason why i didn’t ask for any help is because i don’t want to waste my death on some stupid bug / retarded mechanic if thats even one.

Got any reference for that ? In earlier expansions you could see ring the moment it was casted so it doesn’t really make sense to me that this isn’t a bug.

Also please leave this outter my thread, thats more than off topic.

you seem salty, since im the only one in this thread so far who know what you are talking about and trying to help you. Never the less I will go further to try to help you. I have used ring of frost to win countless games like this, so in case it is a bug then it has been in the game whole bfa since I used it since season 1.

Lets say a resto druid is hitting me in catform and I cast ring of frost around myself to trap him. Without icy veins the spell cast is 1.6 seconds and both me and him see the animaton at the same time when im half way into the cast and he simply moves out before it lands.

If I pop icy veins, the cast time go down to below 1 second and If I aim the ring on him and cast I can not see the ring myself neither can he before it lands on him.

Bug or not, I cant say because im not a dev but Ive used it since season 1, and there has always been a delay from start of cast to animation. And btw the mage itself start to see the animation just as late as you.

Im very sure its just a thing since this patch. Never have seen a RoF cast without the animation before. Even that its delayed is very new to me, Im sure we were able to see the destination right from the beginning of the cast in the past.

The reason why I am so sure: Basically everyone I know cant see it anymore and basically everyone is saying that its something new since this patch. If it would be only me or just a few people, I wouldnt say Im sure, but its pretty much anyone on my FL complaining about.

I cant write links on the forums, but check youtuble and write tripple mage arena, and you will see venruki xaryu and ziqo play 3s last season and they all cast ring of frost same time and the enemy dont see anything and all get trapped. Its not new for this season, as I said ive used it whole bfa.

Also I dont know whythis cause a problem, usually ring is used when a target is already stunned. Sure you can cast it randomly behind a pillar and hope to trap the healer but I dont see this as anything game braking or anything

'cause you see the enemy PoV ? Wow.

As I tried to explain, the mage see the animation at the same time as enemy. You place it then there is a delay for the mage also…

Well, I’ve played with mages since Season 1 and I have never not seen the ring when they were casting it.
