Idk who i can ask in rl, so i’ll try to search for help here
i had bought an Acer Predator Helios 300/ laptop around 2 years ago and i mainly bought it for gaming purposes.
this Pc has always worked more than fine and i managed to play Warcraft and other games with an high graphic.
However on a random day (one week ago) it started to lag massively not just on Wow but even with other games.
I’ve tried to format/reset the PC completely thinking it might solve the issue, however it didn’t work at all, infact the game was freezing badly, and it was basically the same as before i reset everything.
I also checked the drivers and they are all upgraded.
Before this issue, i could play the game with graphic set on 6, now i struggle with the bare minimum of the graphic 1 and im forced to lower the resolution massively, and honestly it feels pretty bad playing like this.
Before i spend hundred of money to check what the problem might be, i ask here what you think about this, in case someone here dealt with a similar problem in the past.
Could it be “Computer Fans”? could it be that my PC is to old (this seems kinda unlikely)? maybe something else? of course nobody can personally check my PC here, but i repeat: im just trying to gather informations from people who might have experienced these kind of problem!
i also find it very strange how this happened from one day to another completely randomly.
As a first thing to try, I’d check to make sure WOW isn’t defaulting to any integrated graphics, rather than the discrete graphics card.
You can do this in-game by doing the following:
Push ESC then Options.
Under System, select Graphics.
Scroll down to the Advanced section.
Where you can choose ‘Graphics Card’ make sure the graphics card (either nVidia or AMD) is selected. Don’t choose Auto-Detect.
If that doesn’t help, post back but it would help to give the basic specs of your laptop (ie processor, graphics card, RAM, type of storage and size and so on).
@Issolie As you’re having problems also on others games, it could be caused by another program, this article might be enough to solve your problem. Else, as you’re on a laptop, make sure not to be in a power saving mode.
In case of a battery issue, remove it to see if it makes any difference.
If you don’t see any improvement, please submit a ticket with your diagnostic files, our teams will be able to do some checks.
Unfortunately, while the PC is fine i found out the problem might be the graphic card, because i noticed im getting “error 43” when i looked in device manager.
Ive tried multiple methods to fix It by myself, however, nothing worked.
Perhaps its better to just spend Money and bring It to someone Who knows better than me (so basically anyone lol)
Hi, sry if i answer you now, My subscription had expired and i didn’t know that i could respond without sub in this section, found out from a friend only today.
Ty anyway for the help, but my PC is in Italian languages and i don’t speak english very well, i used Google translate for some part of this post.
I took it somewhere else and they’ll tell me what the problem is, if it’s serious, I’ll wait to get it fixed.
