To all friends in trouble! The problem is 99% is not on our side. Dont bother to reinstall drivers, delete Cache+WTF. My friend and i got this problem today. He got a potato, i got a highend pc. Its neither hardware or software issue in the player side.
I have to w8 more than 10min to mop classic finaly starts… lucky me i looked retail if its work or not. For the record it run smootly, but because retail already ran, i cant log in. I guess i have to wait again for mop… what a wonderful day!
Open retail client, then open mop/classic client. It works perfectly

Correct. The client waits to connect to an upstream server that is not responding. Use the firewall workaround linked in my reply above or wait for it to be solved. Either option is fine.
Typical that the client is just stuck in limbo instead of throwing an exception after 10 or 20 seconds or so and notify the user with a comprehensible message…
Yep, seeing the same thing. Threads get stuck on waits:
The process is opening a bunch of TCP connections to:
- 90.244.155.32 (Blizzard’s UK infrastructure / CDN range)
- 137.221.64.5 (Blizzard’s US WoW infra)
Multiple threads are waiting on WrQueue and WrAlertByThreadId — meaning the client is waiting on a network or IPC response before moving forward.
I’ve checked the stacks for the stuck threads and I can’t see anything untoward causing the waits, and given the fact that many people are experiencing this issue then it would seem likely that the delay is server handshake / realm list / login services.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a cloudflare issue on their auth/realm service either.

There was update from launcher and i did update it as ussual but after that when hit play button it takes several minutes to start the game, i have never had this kind of problem, tryed to reinstall the game, tryed scan and repair allso nothing happends , now its on blizzard to solve this i guess

Same for me. Update launcher and mop classic need 5-10 minutes to start… Tried to reinstall battle.net, reboot PC, update addons. Nothing helps.

WORKAROUND:
Make outbound rule in windows firewill to block 137.221.64.0/24 for WowClassic.exe, not the launcher, that won’t work.

Same issues here, I cannot launch the game unless waiting for 10 + min. It started today and everyone in the household has the same problem.
Right now game won’t even start, not 5-10-30 mins, just won’t start
Could it be a specific server that affects you but not all? I will try it now though.
this worked for me.
Play/Launch button takes 5-10mins to load on Steamdeck too
