Problems with entering the game

After pressing the “PLAY” button in the BattleNet launcher, nothing happens for 5-7 minutes. After some time, the game starts. Many people have experienced this not so long ago. And it seems to have started again.

I have the same. Seemed like ‘Scan and repair’ fixed things, but not for long. Same problem started after a restart.

This seems to be a thing that happens every few weeks. How little they actually care about WoW, it’s staggering.

I had the same issue, but I couldn’t fix it even temporarily.

Same takes like 5minutes+ for the game to start. Tried scan and repair but it did nothing.

Well for some reason this same problem appeared for me today, i’ve never had this before.

When checking the task manager the executable is loaded, though memory usage is stuck on 223.9MB and when the game actually launches memory consumption should increase rapidly.

What happened to the binary that it’s stuck in limbo for several minutes before it actually launches?

Yep having the exact same issue as well. Never had any problems with launching the game before

I do not open to repair and pray for the opening of the game should not care about the authorities do not care.

Same issue. Never had this happen before now it’s 4-7 minutes when I click Play.
I’ve tried:

  1. Moving the game to another hard drive
  2. Deleting Cache in ProgramData
  3. Scan+Repair in the launcher

Nothing has worked. There’s clearly been some kind of update, somewhere, that’s caused this. Either Blizzard, MS, AMD etc. Not sure…

Is everyone having the issue on a 7800 X3D, Windows 11?

I have same problem since today with MoP, retail works fine.

had this happen again today as well as last month this company is ghetting worse and worse are they emplying children to write the coding of game.

Nope using an I9 13900K here, so it’s not only AMD, my guess is they somehow broke the binary during an update or that we’re encountering an zero day here that for some reason blocks the launch of the program.

This seems to be something that the coders at Blizzard need to look into, hopefully they can reproduce and confirm.

Though it would be nice to see if (any) moderator in here has seen the issue and forwarded it to their headquarters, and inform the playerbase that they are aware and on it.

It happened a few weeks ago too. A lot of people couldn’t launch the game, with some even saying they had to wait over 10 minutes.
Last time, a scan and repair fixed it for me. This time - nope.
for a game which is becoming increasingly dull to play, a more and more toxic environment - to have such technical issues is really bad.
Personally, stuff like this feels like a confirmation of my overall impression lately, and that’s to - move on from pandaria classic. IDK if I’ll actually do it while I have a running sub, but… it’s definitely getting closer. That final ‘‘quit moment’’.

No, they’re firing staff to enrich shareholders so those remaining are overworked and many builds are deployed undertested so it’s left on the users to discover and report the bugs.

Yup i know the feeling, MoP is boring, TWW is really bad, like SL kind of bad. (to me at least)

It’s getting harder to enjoy the game because a lot of things need to be competitive for some reason, and it’s not so much the competitiveness that’s the problem, it’s the people who’re so fixated they’re starting to act like raging morons. it’s ruining the game.

Yup this sadly is the case for a lot of companies who used to make games because they loved (making) games.
This used to be blamed on Bobby Kotick, and don’t get me wrong, he left his mark, but with MicroSoft now being the owner i’ve yet to see any kind of improvement, and to tell you the truth i’m not holding my breath for any kind of actual positive improvements.

I wonder if this could be the actual downfall of Blizzard we could be witnessing?
I mean people were shouting it a long time already, but i always keep an eye out to see if the once mighty giant might be brought to it’s knees finally.

I’ve also now tried uninstalling the game and installing without HD textures – this has not worked. Same issue.

So it’s not AMD CPU / Windows 11.

What about GPU – anyone with an RX 9070 XT having issues?

Please refer to this thread for a workaround. It’s a non-responsive upstream server which the client waits to connect to. If you block the connection the client will immediately launch.

Have a nice rest of the day.

same for me never had this before

This issue is not AMD specific.

Like i said running an i9 139000K here with a 4090RTX, this is a binary problem, somehow the binary locks up / refuses to start because a condition is not being met for it being able to boot.

same problem here too. pressing play button, nothing happens
