Profession Change?

What the hell is this profession change that has happened??

I am seeing lots of public crafting orders for like 10g or something and so I open the order to find that people have not provided the expensive materials for the craft.

If you are going to allow people to post “troll” requests for crafts then please add a new column to indicate if the customer has provided all materials or not so we dont have to look through 50-60 orders individually to find the good orders.

Please add “All materials provided?” or even better a checkbox “Only show orders who have provided all materials”

Also please add a “Scroll of Public Order” to Inscription so you we can craft something useful when there is new items added to the game which ends up in 150+ Public Orders outstanding (Looking at Unstable Elementium)… and allows crafters the options to “refresh” the 4 order limit per day or something.

The change is players can now put in public work orders without providing any materials or mettle. This is leading to a lot of scammers and chancers trying to dupe players in crafting expensive items for nothing.

There is an excellent addon on curseforge called No Mats, No Craft that will add a coloumn showing which public orders have mats and which dont. You can filter out these so that it hides them or you can set a minimum value and hide all the 10g etc.
The minimum value allows you to decide if the commission is substantial for you to use your own reagents.

I can’t post the curseforge link but you can just search for No Mats, No Craft and download it.

Or they should increase the minim daily from 4 back 10.

I would prefer if they had a tick box next to an order missing reagents and let the crafter decide if they willing to supply the materials by checking the box rather than just by default populating with what you have in your tabs.

Blizzard has addressed this change:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/en/wow/t/work-orders-and-the-need-for-management/1552504/3

Also whilst we on professions why not a JC tool that allows us to remove the new stones from the new ring anywhere so we dont always have to return to the forbidden reach just when we want to test out differnt stones.

It’s already in the UI, but it’s kind of hidden. However, I agree with you that they have made the trading post worse, not better, because most people are just trollposting, as you said, not providing any materials and giving like 100 gold fee for very expensive crafts. Hideous design currently.

This is why we can’t have nice things :frowning:
Players are horrible

That’s a great suggestion, a simple tick box to see that all mats have been provided.

I am guilty of being one of these people who have posted 10g commission-without reagents orders.
Why?
Cause;
1 - I have not even looked into the professions much until now (after DF revamp)
2 - I figured maybe people are like me and just want to do some orders, but have nobody to order around (if that makes sense), but I do sit on materials.
3 - For my alts, as I still wanted the public order thing completed.

Sometimes it’s not ill intent or harm that is the meaning behind everything…

Edit; Additionally, I do think there should be an obvious way to see which things provide mats etc tho.
I know there is a popup when you press craft, but maybe make it more obvious before that too.

When crafting with a finishing reagent you always get the “you are using your own materials” warning which makes it so you get used to ignoring it and clicking yes. Just did a public order for someone that had all the materials except the mettle which i didnt notice until after the craft was done. So the warning is pretty useless and something else needs to be implemented so you cant miss that you are using materials…

If you’re sitting on materials that you don’t use … sell them in the auction house and use the gold you make from that to buy the materials you actually need for work orders. Or use them when you put in work orders.

There might be one or two who claims to be either ignorant of the cost of items that you haven’t provided for a work order, or just assume people are sitting on a pile of “spare” materials just waiting to have some use for them - but I don’t believe the majority of people posting crafting orders are like that. I’ve seen orders where the tip is 10-50g … and the materials they haven’t included amount to thousands of gold. People don’t tend to sit on items they can sell on the AH for thousands, waiting for the chance to give them away for a 10g tip.

I mean if you’d like to advertise your name on your realm and tell people you’ll do crafting orders for only 10g and you’ll provide all the materials, I’m sure you’ll get loads of work. That’s one way to go to get your work orders done.

Alternatively, you could just use those alts you mentioned to simply put in personal work orders to your other characters

You can toggle provide mats on and off, not sure if anyone’s mentioned that yet. Sort of scrolled through quickly!

Yeah I understand your logic, I just feel like I have a small amount of it too since I judged it based on my own thinking.
I browse for orders daily as an enchanter and hardly see any, but I dislike selling my mats on the AH as I am waiting to just do random orders.

Advertising is not something I am super keen on as its often met by trollers or even harassment (really… )

and if they dont provide the mats the tick box should remain blank and then ticked by the crafter if they feel the are willing to provide the mats. Currently the default is to just populate with your mats anyway. This is what is duping the crafters as they thought it was the requestors mat.

I’m exactly the same. I don’t advertise at all and I used to do exactly the same as you - stockpile materials “just in case”. Then I realised that most items become cheaper further into an expansion, as there are more and more of them out there, so rather than keeping it “just in case” … I could sell it now at the higher price and, if I do need some later, I could just buy off the auction house, in the majority of instances at a lower price. So I’m still making a profit. Plus it means my bags and bank aren’t packed full of stuff not doing anything :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeee I should probably start doing this. I find myself sitting on mega old material sometimes and still think “I might use this…” :joy_cat:

Definitely … you’ll make a fortune :stuck_out_tongue:

This addon is great, highly recommend.
