This is madning…
I don’t understand how to increase my Tailoring Skill to reach best quality (5th level) of an item.
So i want to craft this item: Allied Wristguards of Time Dilation
This item’s dificulty with a Enchanted Aspect’s Dreaming Crest is 450.
My current Skill is 276, and i have my Tailoring maxed out.
The Crafting details for this item to craft is:
Inspiration: 33%
Resourcefulness 16%
Crafting Speed: 38%
The Tailoring accessories and Tool are the best the crafting orders could provide, they give a total of +26 to Tailoring skill.
Tailoring Talents and Spec are as follows:
Tailoring Mastery Spec:
-Tailoring Mastery: 30/30
-Cloth Collection: 1/50
-Sparing Sewing: 27/30
-Shrewd Stitchery: 30/30
Even if i am to use “Illustrious Insight” that gives me an extra 30 Skill, and “Chromatic Embroidery Thread” that increases bonus Skill from Inspiration by 12% and CRafting Speed by 20%, i STILL only reach 306 Skill level…and i need 450 Skill level.
How in all that is holy and unholy can i reach Skill level 450??
I can’t find any sources on the internet that could explain in PLAIN english what the F i need to do…
I like the new crafting system, its cool and all…a bit to complex for my taste…but Blizz could have at the very least created a post or something explaining in DETAIL what to do for skill increase.
Sorry for rambling…i just get very frustrated when i have to jump through hoops to get to a point and then only to realise that i need to jump some more but i don’t know in what direction…
Could anyone please PLEASE explain what i need to do to get the skill level to 450?
Do i need to max out all the Specs and talents from Tailoring? …damn you Blizz for making things so complex and not explaining it properly…
Materials essentially add 100 to your skill, assuming they’re all max rank. So if you’re tailoring skill is 276, then with all 3 star mats you’ll have an effective skill of 376. With 30 from insight, that’ll be 406. How many skill points does your inspiration give?
Inspiration is at 33%, and it says: “You have a 32.4% chance to be inspired, crafting this recipe with 108 bonus Skill”
I’ve also added a Finishing Reagent, “Chromatic Embroidery Thread”, that says: “Increases bonus Skill from Inspiration by 12% and Crafting Speed by 20%”, but it does not change the Skill when i added into the box…but a simple calculation would give the following:
Current Inspiration: 274 (+27.4%) 33%
So 12% out of 274 is 32.88 …lets round it down to 32 extra Skill.
That means 406 Skill + 32 Skill is 438 Skill…still short of 450
(**And yes, sorry…i did not add the 3-star materials in my first post, so yes, 406 Skill points with the Illustrious Insight (extra 30 skillsp points) …and if my math is correct about the Chromatic Emroidery Thread…then it still falls short of 450 )
How much profession knowledge did you put into Chronocloth crafting?
The recipe uses Chronocloth bolts, so every bonus from Chronocloth crafting goes into it, which means 60 more skill points (30 from Draconic needlework and 30 more from Chronocloth tailoring) and more inspiration points, that would still leave you a bit short, but much closer.
Is that it then? Is 60 points from Draconic Needlework what i’m missing?
So then i need to farm 60 points for:
-30/30 Draconic Needlework
-30/30 Chronocloth Tailoring
You dont understand how inspiration works. With your stats, whenever you craft something there is a 32.4% chance that you’ll craft it with an extra 108 bonus skill. The Chromatic Embroidery Thread increases that by 12%, so up to 44.4% chance.
So you have 276 skill, plus 100 from 3 star mats, plus 30 from insight, gives 406. Then you have a 44.4% chance of getting an extra 108, taking it up to 514, well above the 450 required. There’s no actual point using the insight.
It’s not guaranteed but thats the best you can do (probably)
So …using that logic…that would mean that i would need to “waste” Sparks (the ones you get every 2 week and Dreaming Crests that you need to farm +16+ dungeons for)
No, because you can recraft, which doesnt require additional sparks. So craft the item, if you get an inspiration proc, hurray. If not, you still have the item, and then just recraft until you get a proc. Yes it requires some mats, but not the spark or crests.
I have found that with all items once I’ve made them once (or sometimes twice), from there on in they nearly always come out at rank 5 (usually with just insight).
The crafting system is interesting on its own, but parts of it are too vague, which also leads to the other common criticism: It’s easy to invest knowledge points wrong early on, and end up at a sizeable disadvantage. (At least until more points come in)
Oh yes I totally fell into that trap. I didn’t study up in advance and just used the system as was. I actually couldn’t level the profession at one point because of the knowledge system.
