New profession idea: Compendium builder/photographer
The idea is to encourage thorough exploration of the entirely of Azeroth, not just the current “in” zones, and would provide neat opportunitiess for the devs to build the lore and the players to learn the lore.
The game has a selfie mode that has inspired this, but it was also inspired by BotW or TotK, document the world as you play through it through photographs. This could be with fairly standard tasks such as “take photos of each zone, one for each sub zone”, but could also provide more complex challenges like having to take photos of rares and elites. Points would be given for distance from the subject, how much risk the player was in taking the shot, how centered the shot was, etc. There could even be a “hard mode” where each zone has 5 or so unique photos to take, where a situation is described and the players are asked to capture that moment on camera, a bit like the players in Wind Waker had to (if you ever played that). There was one challenge where you had to capture the moment one NPC looked at another, but one of them was roaming the island so the player had to wait for the NPCs to line up and stay far enough back to get the shot.
We could even be asked to go photo legendary NPCs, and this would bring us back to old content (ie having to photograph every boss in every legacy raid).
This could all go towards the player building up a logbook of sorts, and when certain criteria are met, the player gets new entries into this logbook where cool lore entries and information about the characters within the world can be contained.
I imagine this could be used in conjunction with my other profession idea; cartographer (put in another topic)
