Profession is useless while leveling

profession is useless while leveling, it would be more fun to use profession while leveling.

I agree, it doesn’t balance well at all, my enchanting and tailoring has fallen behind as I’ve leveled up.
I find my self backtracking into lower level dungeons soloing them to farm materials.
I’ve just returned to the game after an 8 year absence and I’m astonished that this is still a problem in 2020, then game has always suffered from this issue.
I’m also spending a fortune at the auction house to buy stuff to level up, I’ll see how Shadowlands goes, was thinking of getting rid of them TBH.

Very very true, and one of the great shames on the devs.

If, of all words of tongue and pen,
The saddest are, “It might have been,”
More sad are these we daily see:
“It is, but hadn’t ought to be”.

Current state of professions is basically ‘Level up the most recent section of it, and farm up the others if you want’

I highly doubt that will change. The devs can’t reasonably expect new players, returning players and alts to fully level up 900+ skill levels to take part in current content.

Hey guys,

That is very interesting post because I was wondering whether I was the only person (I play on Medivh) thinking how weird the professions aged in wow.

I started to play somewhere at the beginning of the game and it was hard work to fully understand and use the craft and how to make money from it.

I came back online for a short time in 2016 after years of not playing and now back since a week.

Very confused about all the extensions pieces of professions, the way newer don’t require older as long as you learn the good parts. And the question of “Do I really need to be at the top if I don’t raid yet??”

If you have any advice or updates for someone like me who barely understand anything that came into wow since WoD. Call me!!

Well, professions are leveled and maintained for two main reasons, to complete a person’s transmog collection and for higher level gear that a non-raider or mythic runner would have no chance of getting. Also, there are some benefits such as some professions having craftable mounts and stat or socket upgrades for gear, etc. Due to the fact that newer xpacks do not allow flying until the pathfinder requirement is fulfilled, a lot of players are going back to older expansions for profession leveling or mats or to farm rep for particular mounts/gear.

Personally, I do it for the transmogs. I like some of the older gear aesthetics than the flashy glowy stuff.

You are not. Plenty of us hate it. I am playing classic a lot atm, and really miss how proffessions works there, and even there they aren’t perfect… just way better than on retail imo.

The “craft” was removed from World of Warcraft many expansions ago. The “War” has been removed too, now that everybody are bestest friends.

Blizzard has filed a patent for “Happy Elfland Lobby Adventure”. Could…this be WoW’s new name?

So true it makes me sad and laugh at the same time, yet I’ve just paid for another month after 4 years without playing.

Indeed :disappointed:

It would be nice if professions gave crafted items that were better than quest greens and world drops.

Which might mean discarding the conventional concept of recipes and allowing the player’s level to determine the output of crafting.
