and materials are not cheap

Not everyone offers free recrafts, especially when they weren’t the original crafters of the item.
Also, not all R5 crafts are guaranteed as well because blizzard in it’s endless wisdom thought that leaving it to the Inspiration roulette would be fun (spoiler alert: it’s not)
Agreed. Minimum quality and recraft orders should be available in the public orders. Stop trying to artificially create social interactions.
I’m being asked 50k for a re-craft for my lariat to418 .
Right now if i go with this my lariat will be at 100k total investment(gems + sockets ) .
This is worst the sl crafting , worst crafting in all the expansions put togheter.
Mettle is soulbound …the insight proc to be guarnteed max lvl depends on the orb your using costs 50 mettle , that’s why they ask , blizz could fix this with 2 buttons …
I have never been so dissappointed with this wow crafting ever .
5k is actually on the low side and yes, most profession equipment can only be obtained rank 5 through chance

Actually already did. Made a BS alt to supply me with weapons. Now will probs make a JC one as well. Even if takes investment to build up and develop. Its still a worthwile long term investment than paying 50k to recraft an item with me already supplying r3 mats and stuff.
