Profession system FAIL

Can you make crafting simple, all reagents BOE and all items crafted BOE please? thank you

also remove ‘‘skills’’ ‘‘talents’’ points for crafting

I don’t mind the crafting system having these trees and knowledge points, it actually works as an incentive to work on your professions.

I just wish it was more balanced to work on the Patron orders.
Asking me to invest 3000+ gold of materials for 1 knowledge point is just ridiculous.

They would have to balance around this if they were to BOE them. I remember in past expansions they sometimes would as it is no longer relevant so it’d skip progression significantly in unlocking some stuff. And ofcourse the next shiny BOP is required then heh.

That’s part of their hidden p2w or playmetrics design. By having quite a few of points behind high-cost orders, they are telling players:

  • Do you want to be among the first to max out your profession, and hopefully cash up on that by having next to 0 competition for a few weeks until others catch up?
  • Or do you want to not pay, still reach max knowledge but at a point when orders and commissions will have dropped?

Regarding BoP and BoE, I am of the opinion that all crafted items should be BoE. But this would “mess” with gear progression for raiding and M+; after all that’s why they timegate it with Sparks. So maybe a good compromise could be having both a BoP and and BoE version of any crafted item, with the BoP craft being cheap and the BoE being expensive in terms of materials needed.

WoW with sub still going to f2p route with progression timegated systems. I noticed something with Aion2 and TnL is how they treat progression in their games, like you said it is focused on p2w mechanic and to timegate players for some reason. In WoW it’s good that you can do endless runs of m+ per day, or pvp etc… but in those games they even timegate how much you can play per day.

I am not saying WoW is same like those games, but it has some systems leaning toward these games. What I would like to see from blizzard is that they treat WoW as new age mmorpg, which would mean no timegating at all and no need for p2w mechanics like those u mentioned. Instead make it purely sandbox in systems where there is immersion - like crafting (it used to be like that in vanilla) or open world systems (pure adventure randomness sandbox vibe for pvp/pve systems), and make it fully ‘‘respecting players time’’ mechanics and competitive vibe for aspects that can make it look more modern.

So in my opinion devs have lots to learn from Vanilla WoW.

Rest of the game is pretty easy and straightforward, the new professions system makes me not want to play any professions though. It needs to be alot simpler and faster to level. I was looking forward to play professions on my characters but tww remove all my interest to touch any of them, takes way too much time. The rework on professions felt like step backwards when the rest of game is going forwards and speeding up alot of things.

I guess somebody could want to spend their time in game solely on professions but I have other things to do and professions were always a side game instead of “last boss” type main content. Professions should be for everyone and something we do on the side while doing pvp and m+ and whatever. I dont got interest or time to pay sub so I can log in game to put 8 hours in professions and barely get nothing from it. The amount of things I can amount in same time doing other contents is alot more on comparison. They have made professions feel ultra slow content that I for one lost interest to do anything with them.

oh I know, and I’m flat out refusing to do these orders.
I’m just raising my professions to support my guild.

Do away with Knowledge points from outside sources, and instead have a point earned per increase from levelling the profession.

People can’t put points into EVERYTHING, making choice more impactful. Give it a weekly cooldown to reset points if people want to focus elsewhere.

yes I would like total re-work on profession and to make it more ‘‘sandbox’’ communist old-fashioned vibe as these type of jobs usually are. going out in open world to get leather and meat shouldn’t feel zoomer-like, instead it should ‘‘immerse’’ those that want to play casually and relaxed to feel the vibe of the game it should then play like that. gathering 15 mobs and oneshotting those with 3 other people is not fun, thus meaning skinning and loot should be personal and not shared. same goes for herbs and ores.

due to how combat works and flying, maybe it is time to re-invent the wheel when it comes to open world economy. to do it properly one should keep in mind what I stated before - sandbox and old-fashioned communist way, because these jobs are dirty and it’s not nice to have it easy way or in a way zoomer like it is today, so perhaps to re-invent new systems or ‘‘ways’’ to farm materials using ‘‘events’’ or what not. keep in mind it shouldn’t feel like ‘‘system’’ it should instead be the ‘‘way’’, like the way of life, how it is dirty at times and simple yet sandbox - random.

events or call it however u like, just some new ways to farm stuff, because it’s not working with all these hyper zoomer like things - aoe skinning/shared everything, etc…

when it comes to communist way - we could have ‘‘capitalistic’’ way of events and what not, because we upgraded our tools and tricks so we can even farm like that - zoomer like. but I don’t know I mean nothing can change and we can have this in ‘‘their’’ way. so I am asking for shared loot/skinning/herb,mining to be gone, so we can have return of old farming in areas or ‘‘spots’’, so we could have multiple spots in one zone and have competition going on - it makes world feel much more alive than it is right now.

For years players asked for more complexity to the crafting system. There have been a few different versions of change but i don’t feel we are quite there yet.

That’s the thing, none of these systems are complex, they are just tedious weekly grinds maskerading as a “profession”

It doesn’t matter what you even focus on in the profession, you can unlock it all anyways and don’t even need to have things maxed out to 5 stars craft items.

I kind of enjoy the new system since DF, but I’m also against the concentration and acuity thing that is time gating the progress. I would rather have the more complex recipes behind q rewards that we can choose to do whenever we want. If you craft a lot you can achieve more knowledge and tit should not be gated behind KP. Yes this means ppl will rush and be insta god in a profession but that is fine to me.

I have a friend who has lost interest in the game because crafting is useless.

Old crafts are scaled very low, early consumables rewarding 1 or maybe 2 stat points. They are also expansion specific instead of parallel scaling.

Gear crafting is somewhat useful to obtain cosmetics, but stats are also extremely low. Again, they are scaled assuming you do Classic to 20, BC to 25 and so on, but it also uses first iteration item levels, which are well below today’s quest rewards and world drops.

Professions have an indirect questing system - I’ve started opening up old Scholomance and old Naxxramas in the last few weeks. I’m also okay with recipes being drops in various places - as long as drop rates are sensible.

Considering the difficulty to obtain certain recipes, the least Blizzard could do is allow crafting any and all items up to your character level (to match quest rewards and dungeon-raid drops). Most crafts are green anyway. As usual I’m not a fan of expansion levels, but for the sake of not changing that, this option should stop at 70 for non-current crafts.

Aside from cosmetics selling for insane prices on the AH (prices targeting the very inflated level 80 income), the current situation mostly favours playing a gatherer on most characters and having each craft once to obtain cosmetics.

No. It’s fine as it is.

Removing depth because of laziness to adapt is never a solution.

I have not been a fan of the crafting overhaul. The work orders are a good thing, being able to get gear crafted but I’m not a fan of all the variable outcomes, people being able to put orders in without materials, the disparity in trees between professions, different grades of materials, the difference on how some professions need more artisan acuity even when at max skill and knowledge.

I knew Knowledge points are tough.

But I loved new crafting orders. Since I have alts with every single professions.

I can make own gear upgrade when my alts orders it. I send gold like 5g for alts with professions.

Also free cross-faction (only one realm)

My alts get 5 Silver and they can like it.

You are generous, mine get 1c

Get rid of knowledge and add renown recipes for professions! Knowledge is like artifact power! We were happy when ION said no artifact power next expansion and now we have knowledge!
