I’d like to propose a system that would give PvP-focused players in Mists of Pandaria Classic a fair way to generate gold, while also addressing some server-side issues.
The Current Problem
In original MoP, players could buy low-level honor gear and vendor it for gold. That system is gone in MoP Classic, leaving PvP-only players with essentially no reliable source of income.
PvE players earn gold through raids, dungeons, dailies, gathering, etc.
PvP players, on the other hand, get honor and conquest but zero gold flow from their chosen playstyle.
This creates a major imbalance—PvPers are forced into PvE farming just to afford enchants, gems, repairs, mounts, or consumables.
The Old System’s Downsides
Previously, many players spammed equip-and-sell macros on honor gear as a workaround. While this gave income, it wasn’t elegant:
It caused unnecessary server load from rapid purchase/equip/sell cycles.
It was clunky and unintuitive for new players.
Suggested Solution: Honor Conversion Toggle
Introduce a simple system where players can toggle Honor → Gold conversion, similar to how you can disable XP gain.
Agreed, however they are littering PvE content too so it’s always a double edged sword, however you need to also think they cant keep taking away content to prevent bad actors or we would have no content.
I agree with the overall sentiment and I think your strongest point is that a venue for gold making with honor was, actually, in original MoP. Why change it? #nochanges x)
Here’s a few additional thoughts though: at the moment, you can get 1 mote of harmony for 400 honor, I believe, which isn’t completely nothing. Since the motes are bop at this time, they have some value especially if you have crafting profs (although they will greatly drop in price soon, and even more later on). And another thought: doing some pve to earn some gold isn’t such a terrifying prospect. Naturally, that’s where most of the gold is
You already can do it if you have enchanting, buy 1k honor OH and DE it to sha crystal (this will be 400-600 gold per 1k honor depends of your server).
This is pretty cool way to make gold, the only negative side is your forced into enchanting, a few of us need to use BS/ENG to min max or Tailoring/ENG so would be taking a hit in that regard however.
Since I refuse to do rep farming, because I already have better gear I sit here on my main with full valor cap that I never spend. Can I trade it for conquest maybe ?
Having a quick look at your prior history you should be able to understand the concerns sitting with full valor/honor cap with nothing to do with it.
I agree there may be an influx of “Bots” however that is Blizzards responsibility to remove them which they have done in the past, if you remember the start of Wrath, battlegrounds had 1000s of paladin/dk bots, that ended after a few weeks or so from them being naturally banned and blizzard did not change the gameplay to stop them they just banned them. This was a change which came with Prepatch MoP where blizzard removed gold value of all honor based items to 1c, there were not many bots at this time so there had been no justification to it.
Furthermore, this will increase the amount of players participating in battleground which will have a knock on effect by reducing queue times and allow players who want to purely PvP be able to play how they want and earn gold as PvE players do?
I mean I split my time equally between PvP and PvE so I have a pretty fair understanding of both sides of the coin. Bots taking advantage of gold farms in game should not be a reason to remove those opportunities for genuine players. It is not the player’s fault that bot’s exist and it’s the responsibility of Blizzard alone to deal with those accordingly, as they have done in the past during the many times bot’s have infiltrated and exploited genuine player farms. At this point I’d advise that you “sit down” and refrain from commenting on things that you don’t understand <3
1000h for 200g is fine but take into account you could earn massively more money than this in a fraction of the time with other methods. It’s really not worth the effort.
