Proposed feature - Disconnect reaction

exactly, just try playing Diablo Immor(t)al in Belgium or The Netherlands, that’s right, you can’t because of the strict anti gambling laws

My point was on emphasizing the potential exploitation of a disconnect feature. Which is already in the game with the Petri+Alt f4 exploit. But at least that costs the player a lot of gold to pull off, and I still think it’s wrong. Even more so if there was a quick, free escape option by simply pulling your plug.

Hardcore rules are specified clearly upon the creation of ones character, in other words, if you die, you die. That’s part of the journey that everyone agrees to upon character creation. But if everyone was given the option to simply pull their plugs to get out of a dangerous situation, then everyone would, and it would defeat the purpose of what defines Hardcore.

For if that was an option, then Blizzard might as well go all the way and provide everyone with a active, in-game ability/option which would instantly teleport the players character back to their faction Capital, thus further eroding what defines Hardcore.

On a final note, I really want to hammer home my point by mentioning that while we’re on this topic, then Blizzard might as well add a buff to all players which increases their stats with a million, allowing people (whom choose to do this) to create god tier characters, and imagine if that was an option of all of the sudden, and my response would be: Well, it’s just an option, and if you don’t want to use that ability, then you don’t have to, what effect would that have on you if others did?

This is a brilliant idea and should just be implemented.

Not entirely the same thing, but yes.

Part of the reason Google got reamed so badly, very similar to the construction of the ADX Florence in Colorodo in part specifically to incarcerate Thomas Silverstien, was to set a deterring example on a high profile “client”.

Ergo anyone coming afterwards doing similiar things can expect to get hit even harder, this is why getting your games banned for distribution in the EU by skirting or ignoring DPLs is a legitimate concern for most players in this industry. It´s at times almost insane how much effort goes into making sure than all of your systems, esp things like Warden, are in compliance with these regulations

WHy would you ever play diablo immortal on your own volition

The game is designed to milk you.

I see this as nothing but a win.
DCs shouldn’t kill you, and if you had time to DC yourself you also had time to just Petri manually, so this can’t even be abused.

It’s disgusting to me but apparently that horrendous disgrace of a game made 2000000 daily at some point.
People love eating Ds man, they just love it.

does petri last long enough for the char to disappear? if so is that really an exploit?

Yes, it does. Is it an exploit? I can with 99,9% certainty say that Blizzard never intended the flask to be used in such a way. It’s the same thing with the world buffs, which also were never intended to be used in the way that classic raiders are stacking them and previously were raid logging to keep them active and fresh before a raid. Unforeseen side effects that can’t be retroactively changed without the potential massive backlash.

It would be really good if some changes were made:

  1. For any player who dies due to falling in Undercity, they get teleported to the Undercity ‘Inn’, and their death counter is reset to zero

  2. Also do this for the Thunder bluff and Thousand Needles elevators;

  3. For any player who dies due to falling in the open world, they get teleported to their capital city instead, if their death by falling occurred directly under a flight path.

And for disconnects (if none of the other suggestions were chosen)

  • implement a very basic ‘AI’ that takes over control of your character after a disconnect.
  • all it does is
  • auto-attack mobs that attack your character
  • Use a health potion if you have one (and health is low)
  • Uses basic spells if appropriate (with a limited selection of 2 spells per class / setup).
  • this would at least prevent deaths where a character stands there for a minute, with a mob repeatedly hitting them while the character does nothing, until they eventually die.

This - with a 8h cooldown, so no abuse possible

For now i have always the character stuck page open on a separate device. If i got dc, i immediately hit the stuck service button. It’s a Life-Saver, but also has a 4h cooldown. So after saving my character, it means a break for that day.
