Proposition for fixing open world content

Points 1-6: We don’t want this game to become like Classic. There’s classic for that. Go play that.

Points 7-8: I’m never going to do open world PvP. I loathe PvP.

You are confused as Dev’s do not read forums they only take suggestions via the in game tool so stop the spam please.

A few of my suggestions:

  • More progression in world content.
  • More repeatable zone wide story quests.
  • World changing areas in zones: You do quests and you see the area change and then give new content.
  • Reputations with more interesting rewards

-More innovative ways to gain reputations and the removal of timegated reputations that rely solely on WQs like they are now.
-More collections like transmogs and mounts, for example player housing and spell tints/skins that woulf require you to do certain activities in the open world. Choping down trees for making furniture or killing mobs in special ways (like draining their souls) to unlock a new form of drain life/soul.
-Class/race specific questlines/campaigns.
-Stealing this from GW2 but vista points where you would be harder to get on foot (idk how to get around flying) that would reward XP or something else.
-Map completion objectives that rewards cosmetics. Loot all the special treasure, explore the whole zone, do the quests etc and get a very super shiny sword.
-Navigational borrowed power tree that applies to the open world only. Do some things get AP that you can invest into the skill tree to unlock grappling hooks in cave areas that lead to previously unobtainable places.
-Speaking of caves, stop copy pasting the 3 caves you designed in legion. I swaer every single cave in this game is exactly the same as the previous one.

you mean you ‘‘few’’ that rule forums every day don’t want this game to become more classical, to be clear I would state: you want this game to feel as convenient as it is possible, so that it takes less and less time to maintain your character and only do content you wish to do without open world content.

Edit: and dont state what you dont want when someone mentions PVP because it is for PVP mode only. period. I can just hear how you feel. and fix your attitude.

you are talking about time consuming things and convenience, you should not tell people how to design mmorpg games because wow is only one out there that is aiming for that kind of design and that is why majority of people left game, if you ask any of them why did they left, they will tell you this game doesn’t feel like wow anymore, I heard it thousand of times.
Only competitive people and people that can’t play other games are on wow atm, and we would have many more if game becomes more classical once again.
There is a way to get things done so everyone is pleased, they just have to find solution.

As a person who played since European vanilla launch, I agree with your premise. However, I see solutions differently. Here is how you fixe wow open world:

  1. Trash borrowed power chests, that I wipe my characters hands after =} supplant for wod treasure (toys,mogs,pets,tools,books) for all game locations
  2. Trash mobs and one-click elites =} scale all to level 60 via chromie
  3. Trash quest and reputation rewards =} instead give conquest/Valor/current ilvl
  4. Old raw materials useless =} scale previous expansion crafting.
    Like e.g. legion tailoring does arcane mage bis class set, cataclysm tailoring does fire mage bis class set etc.
  5. No world PvP =} announce every week a battle for some zone and whichever faction wins the battle via PvP dailies, controls the zone next week, which may include profitable activities like quests elites treasures, patrols on the roads, some faction capital buffs for global dominance etc.
  6. Open world overcrowded, flight posts everywhere =} say, that everyone died in BFA, and delete 2/3 of flight posts, like even say murlocks overran them I don’t care. Add flying mobs and elites and mobs shooting at you, so that flying is only safe in friendly territory.
    Flying to areas like stranglethorn vale must mean you are likely to be dismounted and deposited on the ground by mobs).

TLDR. Scale every expansion to 60 (crafting, ilvl, rep rewards, mobs). Destroy 2/3 of faction hubs in azeroth. Weekly fight for an open world zone =} FIXED OPEN WORLD.

Question:How hard can it be? Answer: Reading this post hard.

nice suggestions, I liked them a lot, you see not many people will understand why we don’t want convenience, if I was one of them I would just quit the game and not make it worse for everyone else…

Yep, every time I pull mobs for a wq I remember, how it used to be, when as a mage you pull two gnolls and hope the patrolling gnoll does not see you

Here, I have just accidentally expressed one of classic wow main pillars. Sense of danger. Where is it, Blizzard? Now we only feel annoyance at having to kill the same mob for the 100000th time

What do you think of what Ifidi said, because clearly he knows what RPG elements are, because his ideas are brilliant…
I focused more on farming although maybe I should not touch that because it seems that many of convenient freaks will yell at you because I don’t like to hyper aoe farm things, it is just not relaxing, and I would like to relax into ambience and press spells slowly, rather then zooming through buttons and pulling 30 mobs at once.

Half agree, and half of those ideas are garbage. Also if I remember correctly Ifidi is the one who was claiming how WoD was the best expansion because it had less content sooo… yeah clearly knows his stuff about RPGs.

He clearly has some great ideas, but I think devs should be very careful who they are listening, because convenient freaks are controlling forums, its obvious, if you say anything that is opposing their idea, they going to spam forums, like grp of 10 people, and ruin your post.

I actually liked the gist of your farming idea, as I would prefer to have to hunt a yeti to some cavern deep in the mountains for 5 minutes and kill them there for a lot of fur/meat, rather then jump from my mount and spend 2 mins mindlessly killing 20 yetis for the same raw materials.

I think, that mob behaviour adds a lot to the game. Like, if you went to a murlock camp and they would all sort of jump at you together or scatter and hide, that would be much much better for the RPG element of the game. But thats a lot to pull and I don’t really expect it from blizzard. Perhaps, Microsoft could do that way down the road, because their other games sometimes have this.

Let me stop you right here , devs listen to no one, never have been and probably never will, we have had repeated leaks from Blizzard employs that the company is an echochamber and player feedback is regularly ignored.
No is controlling the forums, if your ideas get “ruined” by people posting and disagreeing with them thats because they are bad ideas, wait nvm we actaully ave a secret discord server and organize raids to ruin your posts it has nothing to do with the fact you keep reposting basically the same post over and over again.

I’d like to see Blizz use the content they already created put to use as a boost for open world content.
Something like a bounty hunters guild in a main town, that has a huge amount of quests on random rotaion and they change every few days .
Kill 300 dark irons , Capture 100 Defias, excorsize 300 demons etc. As well as a bunch of rotating rare wanted posters.
rewards can be based on current expansion plus armour, mounts an the normal faff.
Point is it makes use of the world
Also when Blizz update an area or something in particular, such as when they updated Uther’s Tomb and made the memorial area in Stormwind, why not make it a server event and have players collect and donate and complete tasks to work towards its completion. It could be used to update areas like the tram and lots of other outdated items.

I like that idea too, like ascension wow but better where whole server works together, brilliant.
We could also get faction pvp quests too with some good rewards like materials or etc.
But I think main problem is lack of danger as Ifidi said, because of how mobs scale, they are useless, you can let 5 mobs attack you for 1min and nothing will happen.

You want quest to do exactly that, gather as many defias boys in one place and AoE grind them to fill up your bar of 100, amazing.

I agree with Jppcg in that on this forum people often post good ideas and get a ctrl c- ctrl v answer like “that’s an awful idea. You sk” instead of any kind of constructive critique.
But more importantly, that’s what happenes with so called opinion leaders, where we got 0 value 0 brain critique of wod garrisons across the board and now we have 0 player housing in 2022. Same with BFA expeditions, same with every new thing blizzard try to do.

There must be like a minimum mandatory amount of multi silable words, when replying to a post.
