Prot just seems.. Weird?

I mean how many talents effect avengers shield for example, yet they feel like they do nothing at all?

Whats the point of not giving Avengers Shield holy power.

Why such low hp pool?

“end” talents are so uninteresting in the talent tree.

Lightsmith is weird and Templar is for me just dps.

Also needing to stay in consecration. Just let it follow you like it did in wod

Rant over

i don’t know what to say , but first of all avenger shield gives holy power if you interupt cause of rebuke, so basicly you will be more incentivize to kick instead of using it for fun and more holy power , since most prot paladins will start spaming it and leaving deadly casts , i mean sure you can do it even with shield giving holy power , but its more so you don’t spam it when you don’t need it , avenger shield if one of the most broken abilities for m+ and puging , i had 70 interupts on runs while my dps had 13/16 each , second prot don’t have a small hp pool , you got redoubt that gives 6% hp increase that u can keep permanent i can reach 9.1 mil hp with 623ivl , lightsmith is very good now with spirit link so your scared weapon can act as a defensive for you or your allies , templar is just pure damage , i agree its boring a bit , concecration concept was always bad and anoying , i can’t disagree with that , maybe they will rework that , i don’t know why u said smith is weird without explaining tho , i feel like your venting cause you had a bad dungeon experience , but remember blizzard probably don’t read forums much anymore cause of the amount of venting and and just saying random stuff , if u are bothered with a class make suggestions on how you would fix it in balanced way , and make sure you explain why its not working.

I just don’t feel that pressing a two charged button is very fun gameplay. It feels like nothing is happening.

You havent done a +10 yet. Come back when you have.

But in short:

It’s quite literally a L2P thing here. Protpaladin is one of the, if not The hardest tank to play right now. You have to play around your defensives right, all the time.

AS talents are really powerful, 10% block chance with 90%+ uptime, insanely strong dot(refining fire) that does 12% of your overall in key, holy power from punishment in class tree with successful kicks, iconic bulwark of righteousness by this point making your next sotr slap hard in aoe.
None of those above are “doing nothing at all”.
Hopo generation is really strong right now with good haste and combined with divine purpose you’re guaranteed even if you have no hands to have 100% sotr uptime.
Class tree capstones sadly are trash but there are some niche uses for some of them so w/e. Also 9-20 is extremely powerful range so just put more points there if you personally dislike specific talents in 21-31.
Lightsmith is really simple but tempered in battle can kill you sometimes.
Templar is the more skill intensive tree as you have to keep up shake the heavens for dmg and defensiveness in 2+ target encounters.
Consec has 4s wiggle room after you leave it now with sanctuary, play around that timer.

You’re right I haven’t done a 10 yet.
But I did a 6 on my warrior last night and I felt like a god comparing to Pala.
Could be l2p issue, but I’m using cds, having as much uptime on sotr as much as I can. But I feel less like a tank

You can, and should, have 100% SOTR uptime.

Your opener is this:

Before even thinking about pulling you throw at least 2 Blessed hammers & pull with a Judgment to get the third and EVEN if theres NOTHING to hit, you hit SOTR BEFORE mobs hit you.

You can even open with Ardent Defender in some cases where you know youll get hit right off the bat in a pull.

The difference between PPal and Pwarr is this:

Pwarr has 3 buttons you spam. & you win. Spam harder & you win harder.

PPal has 15 buttons more or less. You cant spam any button other than SOTR and Conc. The rest has to be planned and rotated. Among these buttons are a lot of massive party tools.

Pwar has 1 party tool, rallying. Pwar is just a lower DPS but tankier Wall with no cds up. Thats where the biggest difference is. PPal is only tanky when you play around your 5 selfish defensives.

  1. Nothing at all? If anything, they give way too much!

Strength in Adversity - a big defensive buff of 25% parry chance , when you tank 5 mobs or more.
Baricade of Faith - 10% block chance.

Punishment - if you interrupt spell with your Avenger Shield, you get 1 holy power, do small additional damage, heal your party for 2% of their health and have 15% chance to get Avengerțs Shield cooldown instantly resetted upong using it

Refining Fire - big AoE dot, that currently does most of prot pala’s AoE damage.

Try high keys, on ppal it is really hard and fun. Be ready for people to sling mud at you if you forgot that pack can oneshot you.

Punishment does not trigger Lightforged Blessing, Refining Fire is not AoE (because AS is not AoE) and loses on AoE to SotR/BH/HotR/maybe even Consecration depending on talents and pulls, all of which are actual AoE. No doubt Refining Fire does slap though.

Also, you forgot absorb from Bulwark of Order and CDR from Gift of the Golden Val’kyr.

I agree with you though, it’s a rewarding button to press, except maybe when you just cast it for maintenance on single target and don’t even interrupt anything.
