So I rolled a protection warrior in Remix, wanting to give tanking a try and see how it feels overall.
I love the vibe around Prot, but honestly I’m baffled about two things:
You need your resource in order to use protective skills; which is an issue whenever you freshly start pulling mobs. You do NOT have resources to use your defensives and need to build that up while attacking; which is incredibly risky.
No stun breaker. Had it not been for the BLINK in Remix, which is a stun breaker, how do Protection Warriors deal with stuns in high-end content even?
Is this something that will be fixed in TWW?
Seeing how Paladins, DHs and DKs have an easier time tanking, it feels like Prot Warrior needs more love?
You dont need resources to use your portective skills.
You have Shieldwall, Spellreflect, Demoralizing shout, Shieldcharge (with the Talent “Champions Bulwark” wich you pick anyways).
I don’t really know about Remix if there are unavoidable stuns but in retail you can just move out of abilitys that gona stun you. So if you dont get stuned you dont need to break stuns.
Out of 6 tanks only 2 can break stuns so not a issue on protwarrior only.
A good played protwarrior is insane tanky a not a lot of stuff gona kill you, what makes us undesiberable is that we can’t really deal with a lot of affixes (afflicted, incorp, no grips or knocks for sanguin).
Prot. just brings nothing good compared to others tanks - is prot. bad then? No. I think tanks like DH/paladin, and maybe DKs, are just too good when it comes to NPC control, which is highly desirable in m+. Maybe take a look at the toolkit of some of these specs and bring them in line with prot.'s toolkit, because I think the control prot./guardian/brewmaster have should be the go-to baseline when it comes to m+, anything more is too strong.
