Protection paladin durability issues

As much as i understand that protection paladin is a good class with such a good utility , their durability is not on par with that , which is odd cause a tank player should feel tanky , not a paper class.

Per example if you do a +10+/11 fine your gonna do fine but this comes with a twist where ilvl can impact your whole gameplay and how much can you survive packs , now with the turbo boost i jumped to +15 keys on a cinder , and my hp was dropping like crazy , the gameplay feel so stressful and not fun at some point .

Prot paladin need his mastery nerfs reverted back , and extend the duration of faith in the light to 10 seconds instead of 6 , or make ardent 30% dr instead of 20% , give some lacking tanks something to work with.

Some will say " just pull slow , you are not supposed to do big pulls that’s why u almost get os" , now in high keys if you can’t pull 3 packs minimum your pretty much bricking the key , crazy to know that prot paladin is doing way less keys than any other tanks , even blood dk destroyed him on the ladder , even my friend healer told me that " he try to avoid a prot paladins cause its not fun to heal at all" , feels like a dk with a shield but no death strike and no massive hp pool.

play meta DH if you want to push. Dev team doesn’t care.

same for Dps play Fire unholy dk or balance druid.

same for healers play disc.

Other classes dev team hates.

Well the game is supposed to be having choices , i enjoy one specific class on every role , but i assume blizzard devs are either worried to buff the durability of certain classes and make it absurdly broken , which doesn’t make no sense or like you said , they don’t care.

I timed 6/8 key on + 15 the other two on +14. Except a few specific pulls i never had the feeling that i could die as a tank. In most dungeons i could survive bigger pulls, but then my teammates would die to AOE/Random dmg.

One of the pulls i struggle is the first boss in PSF and the Paladin pull just after said boss.

I think the holy power generation of Prot Pala feels very clunky with spamming blessed hammers and judgement to keep up shield, and doing damage without Templar Herotalent feels very bad. I think the spec could need a ressource-economy tweak and changes to how Blessed Hammer and how SOTR work, so doing damage is more satisfying as Prot. Doesn’t need to be high damage, it should just feel satisfying to do your rotation, and have more room between ressource-generation GCDs to help your team with utility.

Disagree that the hopo gen is clunky, it’s qol inbetween packs to cast Blessed Hammer and should stay that way imho. Sotr is already off gcd so I don’t why know that feels clunky to you. But ye generally speaking we’re too dependant on hero talent being main source of dmg so our base abilities feel like they hit like wet noodle, but that isn’t prot pala only issue, it’s general game design issue rn. At least with templar it’s directly tied to sotr(hammerfall) so you can still pretend that sotr hits hard since it happens on the same second. We could use WoG being off gcd though, like Eternal Flame used to be back in MoP. And well WoG buffs cause it’s really weak outside of wings and on low hp.

So you want to take a DPS loss to get more holy power generation all the time?
You do know that the other option on that talent is WAY more dps both single target and aoe but Blessed hammer has 1 more charge and gives a defensive benefit.

Blessed hammer hits like a wet noodle and always have done so because the main thing it does is give you a defensive benefit and there is 1 more charge.

Unless specifically lightsmith is meta, i’ll take 100% of the time Blessed Hammer over Hammer of the righteous for hopo gen filler on the move/out of melee range. And even with lightsmith you played guidence in keys and blessed assurance in raid. Without blessed assurance proc hotr vs blessed hammer dmg is not a big swing, but the QoL does make your life much better.

Not to mention next season BH will be higher dps for lightsmith in keys too over hotr. Since 2p procs off BH/HoTR and BH hits 3times per target so more chances to crit and cause hammer and anvil from 2p
